The Hit Me mystery PIF thread

Aleph Null posted his Peacock Parallel Fuzz over on MadBean. Initially it had a few things not going for it for me: I don't need another fuzz (everybody needs another fuzz), and it was on vero. I don't do vero.

Then I listened to the demo.

So I'm in the process of figuring out how to do vero...

The fact that it had a cool enclosure and a weird knob layout was just icing on the cake.

Okay. Made it back from KY last night and got the heat kinda fixed Monday, really fixed Wednesday.
Pif box for sent out today. I meant to get it out Monday before leaving town but the poo hit the slinger that morning. Had 3 MR systems down in 2 states. Got preoccupied.
Also, learned a few things.
Don't get dumplings at cracker barrel in KY because apparently the employees revolted and make dutch style wet biscuits there. Not my first choice of food place but it was the only thing in town that wasn't fried.
Next, "Break in Pavement" signs mean "part of the road fell down the mountain somewhere along the next quarter mile of blind turn mountain road"
So there's that.
Anyway. Sorry to hold the ball so long. Big box of stuff headed to Ohio.

CONTACT. The dual PIF pack from Gordo & jwin615 has landed. Tough choice to be sure! I’ll share a full report soon, and put another PIF in the post post-holiday. (Bio77 send me your mailing address.)

jwin615, maybe you can send yours too? I’d very much like to pay a little something backward if I may. You said the magic words, you deserve some free new things. I mean it. Address.

Glad it made it, and quick! Tracking wasn't updating so was a bit unsure.
As far as choices, it's all yours if it will see use. If you need some explanation on the bag of stuff, PM me. It may not immediately be obvious.
I know the rules were taken or pass on. But I had gathered the hard bits of mine already and wasnt going to sit on them.

Dude. Both gordo and jwin came through hard. Lucky me being on the list after somebody who already had something packed up and ready to roll out the door; not only do I get cool new things, I get options! I’m keeping the latter:

Some NOS bevel top knobs
NNS sharp edge 1510 knobs
A handful of Moonn utility boards
Full set of 1/4 watt resistors
Couple rows of long pin headers (that probably have more uses than have occurred to me) plus wooden prods
200 audio bjt jellybeans!
Some d18s and 4148s
A pretty comprehensive testing setup of jumpers, probes, and a couple extra-mini breadboards to hold the jewels in the crown;
two four-pin spring clips made for the standard in/out design of most if not all the big pedal pcb shops.

So badass! Add some caps and hardware and you can make a ton of stuff with just what’s here. I’m excited to send the next one, Bio77 hit me with that address!!

Glad it made it there safely. The USPS tracking never updated so was worried it disappeared in Memphis.
Hope you find some good uses for all that junk @mckillacuddy .
I grinded the 4 pole clamps down so they will hopefully fit between pots on a PPCB board. If you have a test platform, you can just permanently wire them into it, clamp it in in 10 seconds and audition.
The test leads can be used to interface to a breadboard easily.
Say, you want to audition input caps, solder a blank lead in where the cap goes then clamp them and run the Dupont wire to the bread board(or stick the cap in female Dupont connectors)
You can also use 2 of the clamps to attach a 3pdt breakout to the bottom row to test prior to boxing. Alternatively, if you don't have a test platform, use a breakout board with IO jacks attached and interface with the clamp via DuPont. Then you just need to interface power. A 9v battery clip and a pair of DuPont wires soldered together works well for that. If you have a board with an odd number of holes at the bottom, use the next size up. It will still interface well.
If you find you want more clamps, they're available on AliExpress for fairly cheap. Just keep in mind that if you need to grind the pcb side to wear PPE because you don't want to be breathing fiberglass dust. Nasty stuff.
@jessenator , the above applies to yours.

I double checked that 741; it’s not diodesinc, it’s ferranti. So fun throwing that stuff together. You guys are a hoot. Everyone here has been so gracious with me. It’s awesome
