It almost feels like this only reinforces the idea that compression is sexy the fact you look to achieve this with any pedal… see we are in the same page and you didn’t even know it…

Bear in mind that I'm not a huge fan of slap bass... My suggestion for an exciting pedal would be one that slapped him back every time he slapped the bass. I'd pay to see that.

A slapback, you say? A delayed response maybe? Hmm, feels like I've heard those words before.

Somewhat ironically, the only slap bass line I actually really like is sleepless by king crimson. Which has a pretty heavy slap back echo on it

As a bass player, I can tell you that there is a very subtle difference between slap bass and what Geddy Lee does (in fact he actually plays a little slap bass). Bottom line -- as a bass player, the tone (and I know I'm gonna get slammed for saying this) is all in the fingers. (yeah, yeah, yeah, pedals can help shape the tone, but the note starts at the tip of your fingers.)
