PSA - Check Your Batteries!

For those of you who put 9V batteries in your effects or guitars, make sure to check their voltages once in a while. I've got active pickups on one of my guitars (great for chugs) and noticed that nearly every effect I was playing through sounded like a mis-biased fuzz pedal. Turns out my battery only had 3V left!! Once I swapped it out EVERYTHING sounded better.

I really need to get some rechargeable ones. Cheaper and much better for the environment in the long run.

I wonder if one could rig up a USB lithium battery so you can just plug a usb cable in the guitar directly, kinda like the reverend Greg Koch signature?

probably could.

think I'm going to rig it up so I can run power to it thru a TRS cable.
EMG does a similar thing with an external power supply unit that powers the pickups with a TRS cable. then hooks up to the amp/pedalboard.

Those are cool, but I have a P3 I'm gonna use for it.

This is why I made my low battery indicator, which I use in every active instrument I own. No more wondering about the battery state, and (almost*) no more forgetting to unplug the cable.

I used the MP1584EN voltage regulator with 18650 batteries for a DIY pedal power. It starts pulsating when the batteries are low. Scared the crap out of me the first time, I thought my tubes were redplating.....

I found a DeWalt powertool battery adapter on eBay, they have them for all mfgr's. So I'm going to switch the power over to that from the 16 18650's 'cuz they are a pain in the tukus to charge, even four at a time suck.

Rewiring the guitar for power on the ring of the TRS cable was super easy. I just disconnected the dead battery and connected another battery connector to the existing one and plugged it into the EMG power bus. Works great
