I forgot to mention that until after I posted. I remember watching that unfold as a little kid and even then I was mortified - I just thought that's wrong. Our cricketers were a bunch of wankers in the '70s/early '80s. I've met a few of them in later life and every one except Kim Hughes was a wanker, and Hughes was (is) bordering in being alcoholic!

I'm one of those rare people - an Aussie who admires how amazingly well Kiwis do at international sports despite spending their time fucking sheep. I love (and am grateful for!) the dry Kiwi sense of humour. Choice bru!

I'm on the east coast, way down south. Having a pedal build year, mostly kits from BYOC, pedalPCB and most recently aionFX which l'm very impressed with. Learned a lot from aionFX docs, particularly the resources page on Sourcing Parts.

Currently in the middle of a Stockade overdrive. Stuffed up the first drill and had to wait for a replacement enclosure from Tayda.

There's a Meteor (aionFX) PCB half done, and a Cobalt drive next in line. I just have to put legs on the J201 adapter boards.

I try to support the local guys, but Tayda have just about everything except resistors. I agree with the comment on the aionFX resources page - Parts Sourcing - about the flimsy legs on Tayd's 1/4W resistors.

I so far haven't been game to try printing even basic lables; that's the next big thing to learn. I'm getting sick of blank pedal faces.

Time for a beer, Coopers of course!

I'd go broke if I listened to anything on that sourcing page, paying shipping from mouser? Who am I Gina Reinhart?
Flimsy resistors for me please

Having spent the weekend fretting over the accuracy of a drill template, then a few hours playingt with the drill press, I've decided I need to investigate the Tayda print service.

However, it could be a very steep learning curve for an old goat like me.

At the same time, I ordered some Alpha 16mm pots from diy Guitar Pedals (I prefer Alpha pots.) By the end of Sunday, I already had a tracking number. Very cool!

I really want to get some UV printing done.
But I really really dont want to 1. Pay for Illustrator 2. Learn to use Illustrator.
If someone on this forum will do the designing for me, and I just pay them a little bit?

Does it have to be illustrator? Agree, not giving any of my hard-earned to a doobie. What about Affinity Designer?

EDIT: Sorry, from the Tayda page: "WE DON'T SUPPORT "Affinity Designer" . . . . "We recommend Adobe Illustrator software."

Bugger

Affinity Designer definitely works, I've used it for Tayda UV printing for almost 100 pedals.

As far as I've been able to tell, about the only thing Illustrator has over Designer is an easy single-click to cut out shapes that overlap each over.

Check out the Tayda UV Printing thread on this forum (it's a long one), you'll find some tips and tutorials on using Affinity.

yeh the length of that thread is almost as intimidating as actually installing the software.
yep, it's like that.
tbh i had a go at dipping my toes into trying out design software, and immediately jumped the fuck out.
putting components together to make a functioning circuit, and then having success at using graphic design software, are very very different things.
heck yeah i like making functioning circuits and getting lost in the sauce, nerding out on the history, development, parallels, and then actually playing them.
but graphic design is not my passion (and it shows lol)

yeh all mine are completely unlabelled.
I like just picking colors and knobs to resemble the originals, good enough for me.
If I was doing design Id just be making labels really, which Im sure is about as basic as it gets.
Im currently using painters tape and a pen.
