SFT: Ampegulator (v1) or Softii (v2-)

Anyone here who has tried the iterations of this pedal over the years? Topping off my wishlist, I thought of adding a stoner / occult rock pedal. Curious if I'm better of with the SFT v1 from Fuzz Dog (with 18V charge pump) and put a boost in front (Naga Viper? ...to keep my current Catalinbread focus going) or go with the added gain in the Stoner mode, that the PPCB board has? I hope to reach the somewhat cloudy gain that I associate with the above genres.

Especially interested in the opinion of those who tickle both bass and guitar. And those who tried a booster with these circuits.

I am not interesting in copying tone or anything fromthe example below; it's more to showcase the vibe, for those who aren't familiar with this kind of thing (as its a lot less popular than desert and stoner). It's also a shameless plug of a local, if dead, occult rock band:

Definitely build the Softii. I’ve made a few and always kinda regret selling them and not keeping one for myself 😂

I haven’t tried it with a boost because it doesn’t need it. Rules on bass and guitar.

In your taste I trust. 😊 I'll just buy a charge pump board at Fuzz Dog instead, to get the headroom without the hassle!
