Hey all,

I've posted a couple times here in other boards, but just saying hi bc it's Saturday night, I'm in front of my computer and playing some guitar.

I gotta say that of the places I've bought PCBs from, PedalPCB has to be my favorite. I find the PCBs easy to work with. I like Aion's stuff, but the reaaaaally small pads make it hard for me at times, especially when I've had to de-solder because I goofed. From here, I've done the rectifier distortion, emu amp sim and the unicab and I love them.

I play and record direct- I use a Tonex live with my cover band but have swapped the emu out a time or two and I'm shocked at how well it works through the PA. Since doing that, and putting the Tonex back on my board, I can "feel" the latency now. It's why I'm trying all these analog solutions. People say they sound a certain way, and I agree- they do; but I am finding I kinda prefer it.

Howdy.... Welcome to the shenanigan's of ppcb forum. I'm a direct player as well.... Ridiculously I kinda have most of the common one but currently my live rig runs hxstomp and tonex in my chain... I was running dual tonex ones for a hot minute when they first came out but moved to the original for midi reasons for my setup..

I still have the full original one on my board, but I should get the One since I only use two patches and don't do much tweaking at all throughout the night. I just have it set to a edge of breakup 800 tone and accomplish the rest with a Klone and EP boost. I think I have one more thing I want to try, and it's the Simplifier.

One thing I have not done is get rid of my amps, because I know the time will come when I want to get out a cab and do that for a while. I will say that picking the tonex from the available options felt like such a paralyzing choice, given all the youtube videos and different things I was watching. It's so ridiculous how many affordable options there are now.

Honestly for my style of playing the UA Dream sounds the best stacked with drives.. But it's a space hog and not much bells and whistles.. The tonex comes in second for functionality and sound. I haven't played an amp live for almost five years now.. They stay at the house and rarely get played.... All the new stuff sounds so good and practical

I haven't played one of those UA models yet, but they sound so dead on. Including this weird sound I really don't like once they distort a little. I'm guessing putting a marshally or whatever flavor of pedal in front of that is pretty much the thing to do for any real gainy sounds.

When/if you do make a post. I went with Tonex for a quiet stage/practice solution and it does what it does well. But the simplifier keeps getting my attention and seems to really pack a punch as far as it's flexibility.

for sure. have you tried the emu/sansamp gt2? I was pretty blown away after having used the tonex for a year.
