What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Just added an on-on switch to my amp for cutting NFB off. Reason just was to give it a go. Background hiss got bit more intense, but not too bad. After short test play noticed now when the amp is driven with fuzz there’s sharper transients which bring clarity I like. And yeah, the amp is ultralinear so couldn’t blast gain to the point power tubes start to sing bit more.

ope… my bad 😐

As far as what's on my bench, it's a friggin breadboard with something dead simple that's got me. Seriously, IDK what's up with my brain, but clipping sections take me far more times to get right than more complex circuit stages.

Friggin tell me bout it. The sort of circular nature of how they are drawn on the schematic that always makes them a brain teaser for me and I spend inordinate time trying to think it through.

Last week I breadboarded the Glory Hole with four diodes and it fired right up. That made me too confident. This weekend I tried to breadboard the Cast Iron Overdrive - similar 4 diodes but this time with a pot coming off of them as well as the four diodes being tied to each other at pretty much every point. This whole assembly connected pin 2 to pin 1 of the IC - but no matter how I arranged it, I couldn’t get the signal through. So obviously I just don’t have a big enough brain to figure out how to lay this out, so I tore it all down and I’ll try it again another time.

Honeywell Rondostat HR-20E (programmable radiator valve). The increment encoder wasn't working properly any more, causing jumps of the value in the opposite direction. Applying some solvent spray "solved" the problem.

No but I worked on a Yamaha motif xf8 last year

Nice. 🤘🏼

Maybe/probably, but that time when they were new and I was doing warranty repair for many brands is a bit hazy...;)

This thing’s been modded a bit and I’m trying to figure out what they did exactly. Owner said he picked it up like this and it’s not booting up correctly. I think I’ve found a sequence to reset it, but haven’t tried it yet.

And he had added this to the out put which I removed for now:
