Hopefully simple GarageBand question

I've been doing more recording lately, and up until now, GB has met my simple needs. Last night I plugged direct into my interface for the first time, to see how that compared to my Simplifier. But, I could not figure out how to monitor my guitar (playing through the simulated amp) in GB. The monitor (my headphones) gave me the output from my interface. When I play back the track, it platys with the simulation just fine, and lets me tweak settings in real time—and, I was genuinely surprised at how nice it sounded. I went through the GB manual last night, and really couldn't find anything about playing live through GB, which is hard for me to believe. (I know that in a more complete DAW I would do a foldback to get something like this looped into the monitor—is there no way to do this in GB?

There is a setting in Garage Band/Logic that disables hearing the effected sound, I’ve hit it a couple times. Something under monitoring.

Let me dive into it when I get home later,

Depends on your interface usually. What are you using?
An RME UCX. It has the capacity to do this internally, (I’d need to have effects loaded into it), but I’m sure the issue lies with GB—I can’t get it to monitor the effected sound as it’s being played, only on playback, no matter what I choose (the headphone outlet, or external monitors hooked up thru USB, or the RME unit. I’ll look again through the monitoring section.
