Skeptican Buffer, 29 Pedals and actual copyright...

A thread just like this gets started at least once a year. Sometimes I think about listing my Skeptical Buffer on Reverb just for something interesting to do. Assholes like this just want to be miserable.

Besides, his power supply blows. A regular power supply doesn’t need +100ma for a buffer. What’s next, does the dude have the ultimate tone power cable for sale?
What you wrote made me curious of what the difference between Skeptical Buffer and 29 Euna is, so for the sake of discussion, I stole these pictures from some Reverb ad:

Yikes. Not a fan of the copper islands, sloppy soldering, board-mounted foot switch, and all of the dear diary stuff on the silkscreen.

Yeah, I noticed this when researching the pedal I have for sale (jfet). His pedal has a draw of 150 ma, which essentially demands an isolated power supply. And if you have one of those it's going to have a 9v output.

The boss power supply has been the standard for decades, there's no way someone who has an 18v or 27v power supply doesn't have a regular 9v.

The buyer of this expensive pedal is guaranteed to also own a nice power supply, which is definitely going to have a 9v output. If you big picture it at all it makes no sense.

It seems like a cool idea, but in reality, it would have been better to implement a standard power section and reduce the cost of the pedal. So you have to ask - is it only there for the hype factor?

I was looking up a company for work, they owe us money, can't get ahold of them, so I checked databases to see if they still exist.

So being a snoop, I did a little search. 29 Pedals nor Believable Audio nor Jesse are registered companies with the state of CA or nationally.

To me, that is strange. I have had multiple LLC's and an S-Corp for various things over the years. Even my band had an LLC to protect our personal assets incase something happened.

One my LLC's is the names of my pets so it sounds like a law firm.

So, not legal advice or implying anything, but I believe if someone were to engage in a lawsuit with him for something like a pedal catching on fire etc, his personal assets could be at risk.

Which, as quick as he is to threaten legal action, seems like he would want to cover himself first.

Oh I wasn't disagreeing, I was confirming the absurdity. :ROFLMAO:

I'm sure it spikes a bit more at power on and when the relay energizes.

I think it's quirky and cool, but I still question who it's intended for... are there really guitarists out there with $200+ buffers who don't own a $20 1Spot? How many folks are actually benefiting from all those wasted milliamps?

I would understand a 500mah draw from a digital pedal, it's just weird to see anything higher than 20ma on something as simple as a buffer. My CE-2 draws less than that

Shhh.. don’t spill the secret.. the tone is in the current..
an excerpt from our conversation last year about the euna...

"[Robert] deleted some other components that either he didn't understand or couldn't be implemented with his power supply which are critical to the overall feel of the circuit"

the feel of a buffer

Then there were these jewels -

"And while you claim "quality components," I recognize the noisy metal resistors"

"a much more robust PCB than pedal PCB sells which affects performance"

"the offboard footswitch and jack wiring has serious consequences for impedance at high-frequency, which is why the frequency response at high impedance is poor"
