I put a Pastel Preamp together, and it seems to generally work. The Pre control works and I think sounds like it should, but the Master volume control has virtually no effect whatsoever and Tilt has *some* effect but it is extremely subtle.
This makes me think there is something wrong, and I have been re-checking every component, but I was curious if anyone else had run into this or had any ideas on what the cause could be. I ended up using MPSA18 for Q2-Q7.
Should I source 2N6429s instead? Should I re-test and look for a certain hFE range on these? I really don't think I have any wrong passives in place, but I will triple check everything. Tried swapping a few different TL072 and there was no change. The pot itself is correct-- 10kA and the resistance values are sane at both ends.
