DBA Germanium Filter (vero)

Another DBA circuit, the Germanium Filter. I used the Dirtbox Layout without the bias trimmers, but you need to put the GE transitors "upside down" in good old DBA fashion, as our wizard Chuck pointed out. He has also a thread about this cirucit, here.

DBA has an internal trimpot for volume, which is kinda dumb, I put that on the outside. Then there's your Gain and a super cool Filter knob, that travels through large and interesting soundscapes.

I used some MP38s that had a bit more hFe than recommended, 40-50 instead of the 20-30 mentioned by Dirtbox. No idea about leakeage, but I can say that it sounds great on both guitar and bass.

I guess I'm going to have to build one, if I can source the transistors. I wasn't familiar, but I checked out a demo and feel like I must have one. Very cool graphic, by the way.

Thanks and yeah, build one. I'd recommend to use sockets for the GE transistors (NPN) and just try out what you have at hand.

Turns out, they're in the PPCB shop. How's that for convenient.
