TY-142p in the Duocast?

Has anyone used a TY-142P in place of a TY-141P for the Duocast build? The 141P is out of stock everywhere, but the 142p is in stock. Difference in the secondary impedance, DRC, and looks like the "2" has a different Turns Ratio: Also, if anyone can explain what those differences would potentially do to the sound quality if anything?

Very much appreciated.

141:
1. Primary Impedance: 10000 CT 2. Secondary Impedance: 10000 CT 3. Output: 100mW 4. Primary DC Unbalance: 4 mA 5. Frequency Response: + 2dB from 200 to 15,000 Hz 6. Impedance Matching: 10% over full frequency range 7. Longitudinal Balance > 45dB 8. Insertion Loss @ 1K Hz: < 1.5dB 9. Return Loss: > 26dB 10. Total Harmonic Distortion < 0.5% between 275Hz and3.5KHz 11. DCR: Primary (1-3) 820Ω Nominal Secondary (4-6) 1070Ω Nominal 12. Turns Ratio: 1 : 1 13. Dielectric Strength 1500V Pri to Sec to Core

142:
1. Primary Impedance: 10000 CT + 15% with 600Ω load 2. Secondary Impedance: 2000 CT 3. Output: 100mW 4. Primary DC Unbalance: 4 Ma 5. Frequency Response: + 2db from 200 to 15,000 Hz 6. Impedance Matching: 10% over full frequency range 7. Longitudinal Balance > 45db 8. Insertion Loss @ 1K Hz: < 1.5db 9. Return Loss: > 26db 10. Total Harmonic Distortion < 0.5% between 275Hz and3.5KHz 11. DCR: Primary (1-3) 750Ω Nominal Secondary (4-6) 217Ω Nominal 12. Turns Ratio: 2.24 : 1 13. Dielectric Strength 1500V Pri to Sec to Core

Anyone familiar with transformers? I went ahead and ordered both models. The 141 is back ordered until 12/29/2020. Wondering if I should try the 142 and swap it out when the 141 comes. Or if the 142 is fine just cancelling the back order.
My guess is that the windings and ohm difference will make a difference in the sound.

The 141 has a turn ratio of 1:1 while the 142 has a turn ratio of 2.24:1. The 141 is an isolation transformer, output voltage and input voltage will be the same. With the 142 at 2.24:1, it’s a step down transformer, and for every 2.24 volts in, you get 1 volt out. This will diminish the output volume, you may have to crank the level pot just to hear it. Now if you feel like experimenting see if you can make it a step up transformer, not much risk at the low power of a pedal. See if you can turn it 180 degrees, put the input on pins 4-6 and out put on 1-3. I would recommend that you try this with off board wiring first. Removing a transformer from a PCB SUCKS! The other issue may be the impedance of pins 4-6, on the 141 it’s 10k, on the 142 it’s 2k. Try a resistor going to pin 4 as close to 8k as you can. Not sure if this will work so no guarantees, most of my transformer experience is 3 phase power. Controls transformers like this are snatch and replace items?

Thanks for the break down. Makes a lot of sense now. I will off board the 142 for sure and just be patient for 141.

Weird. They let me check out as a Guest. Their shipping options were 7.99 and 10, which is nuts for just a $4 part. The cost of impatience...

I bought 10 units of the TY-141P when I built my own Duocast exactly to make shipping worthwhile. I used one on my build, and I would probably keep a few around, but I could definitely part ways with some of them for whatever price I paid + shipping, if anyone's interested.
