Master Fuzz

I wanted a quick build, so I knocked this build of the PedalPCB Master Fuzz out yesterday.

The enclosure is simple. I just got the bare aluminum with some sandpaper and a scotchbrite pad, a homemade waterslide label, and a few coats of SprayMax 1k clear coat.

The board came together in just over an hour.

I selected a matched pair of 1N34A germaniums at .287 for it.

This thing is SUPER FUZZY. I love it PXL_20260428_001214998~2.jpg PXL_20260428_001317499~2.jpg PXL_20260428_001342219~2.jpg

Nice! This is on my eventual build list too. I've done a Standard Fuzz and a Kay Fuzz with a bunch of mods Mark Hammer came up with. They're both great but I have to do them all...that's a helpful point about the noise floor.

I've probably got over 200 when counting all varieties, maybe 10 or 12 1N34A's, but I don't think any of mine have FV's that low. I'm still a Klon nut, so I'll keep looking.
Mind that I'm measuring with a Klein multimeter rather than a Peak...
As I understand it the multimeter tests at 1mA and the Peak at 5mA, so readings will generally lower than on a Peak.
