Thank you to @MichaelW and @MattG for sending me a board.

Sheepylove Pelota 2 Delay - PT2399 delay with modulation - This is not a MP Deep blue clone.

Fantastic digital delay. Not cold, sterile, more natural repeats, I think in part from the diode clipping after the feedback pot and the filtering for the internal 2399 opamps is a lil different than most circuits. The modulation sounds great at low depth/rate settings, like a slight tape warble, then gets fun as you turn it up.

Slap back to clean cascading revervbish notes to analog like degrading long delays all with soft to wild tape warble

I'm not an expert on these things, however this is the best 2399 delay I've ever heard.

Borrowing en exert from MichealW's report who nailed the description of this pedal and a lil history:
( link to his report: https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/pelota-2-delay-sheepy-love-dylan159.28373/ )

"This is @szukalski 's layout of Dylan159's (from FSB) PT2399 Delay.

I've been pretty much a die hard analog BBD delay guy with my goto being the pair of MadBean DMM's
as well as @blackhatboojum's Boss DM-2 and @dan.schumaker 's DM-3. I'd left PT2399 and FV-1 delays behind. (Or so I thought)

So when Dave was telling that this is his favorite delay I was a bit skeptical. But I have a bunch of PT2399 IC's that I bought many years ago so I figured, what the hell, let's build one and see.

Well I have to admit I was a bit gobsmacked at how good this delay sounds. The only other 2399 delay I really like is the Deep Blue Delay (Seabed)
so comparisons between the two are a given. The Pelota has less filtering on the repeats than the Deep Blue, which is designed to emulate a BBD delay.
But at the same time, the repeats on the Pelota are not at all sterile but have an organic feel to them.
Dylan also tapped into the modulation in the PT2399 (See my linked post for the Deep Blue) but he did an awesome job implementing it.
The modulation is similar to the Deluxe Memory Man and can be overwhelming. But dialed very low it adds to the awesomeness of this pedal.

In some ways in my mind at least, it's like a digital DMM. Not saying it sounds like a DMM but for me I can use them both the same way (I'll get to that in a second).

It doesn't have that "wash" that you get from the DMM, it's more articulate and of course there's less noise. The attack of the repeats is more like the Boss DM-3.

@szukalski 's layout is killer and this is a super easy build."

I dont have the setup for decent recording, even for youtube. I've listened to keeley mag echo and pedalpcb magnatron youtubes and the I think the mag is a touch cleaner, or maybe clearer? Pelota a lil more lofi. I tried an opa2134 for the buffer and it did sound different, slightly, maybe, in a good way, but when I put the tl072 back in it sounded a lil more lofi natural again. I think if I A/B'd the chips after 2 min I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

There's just something about the pelota that's a lil more organic maybe.

Maybe it's all in the ears of the beholder. I wouldn't sell the magnatron, sounds great on youtube.

That ships already sailed. I like to try different delays and only a few are mainstays. One being my DMM and the other being my Boss DD-200 just because of all its functions.

Let’s hear it! Have you tried the Magnetron? Comparisons to be made?
I've built a few of each. the Pelota is inherently more hi-fi, so much so that I add a tone control. it's super rad to be able to get repeats that don't sound like they are under water and still use a 2399. it may not do the tape echo thing as well, but it does a lot more than just the one sound, which gives it its own value.

If you're like most human beings, it's more like three or four seconds.

I remember the first time I did an A/B/X audio test of different file compression formats back in the early 2000s. That was a humbling experience.

For subtle changes, I don't trust that I can actually hear a difference unless I put it on a switch. Even then, if it's subtle, I wouldn't stake my life on it after the A/B/X experience.

I'm gonna make a wishlist thread for the Pelota. Got one of the PCBs @MichaelW had on hand and it's an absolutely beautiful delay with, as others have expressed, quite the delay time wrung from the PT2399. Of course, I immediately lent mine to a friend's band who were about to hit the studio for a week, so I need to get it back and give it a proper rehouse/graphical treatment still lol.

I get 700ms of usable delay out of mine, bought the pt2399 from tayda, maybe tayda's fakes are better than the genuine chips? J/K!

My Aion Vector (MP Deep Blue clone) was really degraded after 450ms.

My Pelota clean shorter delays that degrade more organically and don't fall apart after 450ms. For me A touch of depth and rate add to the sound and is almost imperceptable until they and turned off, then it's noticably missing.
