Stuff currently in various states of "in process"
- RR 6v6 JCM800 - almost done wiring, then on to the cabinet
- one slab of mahogany and one of cedar that will HOPEFULLY turn into double cut telecaster bodies. I've built a couple partscasters before, but never shaped my own body. My garage will turn into a makeshift woodshop for the next few weeks (months, depending on success rate).
- an ALMOT done Pharmacist board build
- Turret boards are built but not populated & boxes are painted but not drilled for three fuzzrites

I was gonna dremel the bottom lip off this enclosure off but then I remembered The Nibbler I bought from Amplified Parts. I bought it to do the square holes for power and switches on amps but it worked like a charm for this too and I didn’t risk burning the house down with sparks from dremel.

continuing on with the DS-1 saga, once again, curiosity has gotten the better of me...
so the other day i saw a 1991 DS-1 for just aud$79 at cashconverters (local online pawn franchise).
i don't need it. i tried to be good, and ignored it for a week or so.
eventually gave in.
here it is vs. '09 model.
interesting differences in build quality.
i set them up side by side for a comparison.
result:
they sound almost identical.
if anything, to my ears, the newer model with NJM3404 has better definition/clarity, and a slightly smoother crunch.
the TA7136AP version seems a little grainier in the overdrive.
that's it.
in conclusion:
everything claimed about the supposed benefits of a TA7136 version is all a crock (IME).
but i'm not disappointed. i'm actually impressed with the consistency. well done boss.

If I were you, but I'm not, I would NOT be putting the name and logo of any companies on any of my pedals.
For legal reasons.
I also prefer to give the pedal a name that might give a nod to the original, even imitate the graphics, but never outright copy the name nor graphics.
Look into copyright law, and legal proceedings from people before you who have done that, copied pedals verbatum.

Hey thanks for the message. In other hobbies this is done all the time - i.e. everyone thinks my brother has a real GTO. I looked at the trim tag of his car and saw it was not a 242. Maybe pedals are different so I will do some research.
Edit: I have never been a victim of identity theft. But I am going to retreat a bit more from this forum. I have not posted any builds in a while as I am not sure the members want to see them. I was over-exuberant when I started building pedals and I over-posted here. I love the hobby so I will continue to build pedals and I will share builds with my friends.

It's only an issue if you go to sell the pedal as it can be misrepresented as an actual Keeley.

I don't see a problem with it if it's only for personal use or as a gift, but if it was for something I was selling I definitely would not do it. I know I've been uninspired and copying ehx/mxr but I also am putting my logo on them and never selling them. May I get my spanking now please?

I'm always happy to see peoples builds, hear how boards turned out, how they liked this pedal compared to another one they built, etc.. there is a whole build reports section for a reason after all. But either way do what you gotta do. I'm waiting on parts so I end up wasting a lot of time checking the forum all day.
It does always confuse me when I see the companies name on them admittedly. It shouldn't be a problem until you sell it, or give it to a friend and they try to sell it and forgot it was a copy and some dude is asking "is this legit? I've never seen this version" in some Facebook group. But I'd avoid it as well.
I gotta try to these vinyl and waterslide decals though! I still haven't order any custom printing or anything for mine. Taydas wait times are already long enough and it's so much work to throw an order together and do a design and figure out the ordering process for a one off.

Thanks, I think it is for the best - I refer to the build reports before any build. I love to see how others problem solve things or mod circuits.
For waterslide, I use Laser clear film now but I have ordered a bunch of film-free waterslide which I should get in a week. Message me next week and I can send you a few sheets - should be even better I hope. Waterslide with an ink Jet printer was frustrating me and adding days to the process. I am now using a Canon image class 665 (color) laser printer and it works for me.
Speaking of Tayda wait times, I have an order from April 29th that is not here. Grrr

April 29th?!?! I got like 30 semi populated boards waiting to be built and my order is from May 14th
Also I appreciate it! But no need. I gotta get a half decent printer and find a good place for it etc... before I try all that out anyway. I will keep an eye out in case you do make a post about the new method and what stuff is working the best for you though. Maybe I'll have to get that Canon one.

I'm truly sorry if my post has caused you to retreat in any way from the forum — please view my post as a precautionary proclamation looking out for your best interests.
It has happened before where someone sells their personal pedal, branded with the original circuits livery — nothing wrong with that, but then the new owner in turn sells it, but trying to pass it off as the original pedal.
I'm in the car hobby, too, and have seen regular Mustangs being tarted up as Shelby GT350 or GT500 models — again, nothing wrong with it, until the person tries to sell it off as original-spec Shelby model.
Now where's my whip? Gotta go keep GOTA happy...
