IMG_1889.jpeg These OD pedals begin to run together in sound. Minute changes in overdone circuits. This one has a wide open sound and it can get clean boost or overdrive... and rotating the drive knob brings a good amount of pleasant saturation. This circuit is medium gain and high boost.

I used a white 1590b and applied a color waterslide decal and protected it with Spraymax 2k clear. I used artwork from the EQD Crimson. I used a bezel-less 3mm red diffused for the bypass LED. The knobs are two white Davies 1510s and one Davies 1611. I wanted the smaller circumference knob so that more of the artwork could shine. I did source an OC139 from Small Bear and it is quite large so I laid it down. I cannot speak to how other semiconductors would sound. I also used a few WIMA caps for the bougie people. I used low profile enclosed side jacks and a low profile DC top jack. For the top jack I used epoxy to hold it in place. It is so snug I feared that it may come loose down the road. The footswitch is a full sized soft click with a PPCB breakout board.

I think I may like a bass knob added to this circuit.

Notes:
  1. Consider getting the actual OC139 from Small Bear
  2. You need some short electrolytic capacitors for a 1590a build
  3. Consider epoxy for the D.C. jack to hold it in place for good

Looks good. This was one of my first builds and really like it. I forget the transistor number I used but remember it having hfe around 80 and very low leakage.

This looks great! Too funny, I just ordered one of those oc139 from SB too to go along with the broken drive pot on my build. Did you happen to note the hfe? Curious how it compares to the 2n1306 I have in there now.

Thanks for the message. I really like how it turned out also. This is the note that came with the OC139

Love the look of this pedal! How do you recreate the art work? I noted that you did similar things with the Qucksalver and Mach 1.
Thanks!
I have photoshop and a very nice color laser printer Canon MF665CDW. The enclosure takes much much longer than anything in the process. It takes several days and adds cost. I am now preparing many enclosures because...
