Great circuit that produces a pleasant crunchy overdrive which can be dialed in quite easily. It also goes all the way to complete aggressive saturation and more sustain than anyone would need. I would call it low or medium gain because going to ten on the gain only adds more and more saturation... but the circuit's volume potentiometer provides ample headroom. The tone knob works great to add sparkle or fatter warmer tones. I enjoy that this circuit responds to my attack with dynamic response. I guess I prefer these circuits that utilize multistage op-amp architecture. This circuit is worth building.
There are many components including two Zener diodes and 47k5 resistor. I had to tent for that odd-ball resistor value with a 47k and a 510ohm. 11k is also a weird value and I used a 1/8th watt for that resistor. No other uncommon parts. I used WIMA film caps because I have them and this thing takes three common TL072 op-amps and one TC1044 charge pump.
For the aesthetics I used a great looking - I think this was the Tayda 125B Style enclosure finished in metallic clear. I like it and it looks great in person. I used aluminum blue Davies 1510 knobs and a 3mm red diffused LED with no bezel (1/8th inch hole). The decal is a film free and the enclosure is protected with 2k clear. I used a PPCB top jack plate and Switchcraft jacks. The footswitch is. 2kg with a PPCB breakout board.
