Just got this finished and tested, it sounds just amazing !!! I will be able to fit it inside a 125b easily, although while troubleshooting it I realized that I could turn the resonant filter off via foot switch by ungrounding the rate led if I want ^^ but it might be tricky to make it fit with 2 foot switch and the expression jack :/. I used the deadendfx schematic, another great project from them but In a waaaaaay oversized pcb }:( !

Anyway though I post this here for others cuz it sound just so freaking cool ! Plus the bbd needed are still very easy to get a hold of !

Here's a pic of my noob layout, I did used those long but skinny 4558 to save on some space.

Nice! my charonium build went sideways and I'm still trying to troubleshoot it—is that an oshpark board you had printed?

Yes it is a oshpark board :). Hope you get it to work l, it's a really fun pedal!! I dunno what your issues are but I can't tell you that you MUST have the rate led installed for the resonance part of the effect to work ^^ or else you just get a weird but very usable echo/ light chorus effect.

I've been having issues around the LFO, and I eventually realised after banging my head against the wall and finally checking wth DFX that I had the LEDs installed backwards. The Dead End PCB doesn't have the LED pads marked either way (nor is it indicated in the build docs) and I assumed (wrongly) that square was cathode. I hadn't gotten around to flipping them, but it sounds like that's going to solve it.

Also if
So thank you!
Also be careful if your using the lcr0202 vactrol! On the plastic box the small dot is the cathode, dead end fx seems to be using a lot of the madbeans eagle library like I did for my layout, if it's anything thing like me I had to invert the vactrol led pin from the silkscreen. Either that or mount it on the back of the pcb but I dunno how the deadendfx pcb is layed out. Just make sure your pins goes in the good holes is what I am trying to say xD !

I used the xvive equivalent of the VTL5C3 from small bear, which I think has the + in the right spot for the DFX board, but if flipping the LEDs doesn't solve the issues I'm having that'll be the next thing to check.

This is all to say, I'm quite appreciative of both the clarity of the pedalpcb docs and the support of the community here when it comes to troubleshooting pedalpcb projects!

Bumping this one - just curious @Bobbyd67 and @Nostradoomus if either of you had any issues getting the unit to self-oscillate per the build docs? My build seems to be working but the 10K trimmer doesn;t seem to have enough range to get it into runaway helicopter mode. With the Time pot dimed, I only get the slightest bit of delay/reverb. The mod section works great though. This one has been the most oddly frustrating build for me...

Thanks - I'll try swapping out the trimmer and see if it's just a bum part. I honestly can't imagine a world in which a 10-cent mechanical part I ordered in bulk from tayda isn't precisely calibrated and (gasp) lets me down.

Hey mdc ! Almost forgot to test it out on my unit xD.
So I did get it to self oscillate! At first I just couldn't but I had all 3 knobs turned all the way up buuuut if I turn that rate pot down ( on my layout turning the rate pot left makes the rate go up) and get enough rate speed it starts oscillating around pass 3/4 rotation of the trimpot. So before changing it try to accelerate that lfo rate !
