HEADPHONE-AMPS ATRIUM — discuss all things related

There's been some Headphone Amp suggestions in the Wish List again, so thought we might discuss any and all manner of such wee beasties.

What's your favourite HA?
What features are missing from it?
How do/would you use it?
What are some of the HAs you'd like to add to the Wish List.

I've got a few MFX with Headphone capability such as Zoom, Korg and others; Beat Buddy Drum Machine with it; Amps with it (Roland Bass Cube, EA Micro 300); and yet...

I'd like a Sesson-Award/Morley JD10.

I have the Darkglass Element and it's the only headphone amp I've used. I love it. So many features, most of which I don't actually use, but they're there... 5 cab sim slots which can be swapped out very easily when connected to a computer. Bluetooth or 1/8 jack for aux in. DI out. A tuner of sorts. A noise gate. I'm probably missing a thing or two since I really just use it for headphone out. I have yet to find a cab sim that I really like the sound of, but since I'm strictly a bedroom player I'm not too concerned with how well my tone sits in a mix. My only gripe about it? It's silver. I've toyed with the idea of very, very carefully using alcohol ink to turn it black or at least dark grey, but haven't gone there yet because it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. It's pricey and definitely overkill for my needs, but it's built like a tank and should last me pretty much forever.

Cool!

Maybe a custom etch, or anodise it (¿it's an alloy housing, right?) — or rehouse it so you can return it to stock for whatever reason.

Do you think the Element is DIYable?
I've got several Elements, but they're altogether a different aminal, from Dr Sci, and one of my favourite dirt pedals.

I forgot to mention in the OP, I've got a couple of tiny THCustom PCBs for headphone use, but not built them up yet:

- SUPER-MINI HEADPHONE AMP V1.0a
Super miniature stereo headphone amp. Fits 1590A with enough room left over for a 9V battery. Sucker is Ti-KNEE!

- MINI HEADPHONE EXTENSION BOARD V1.0a — Adds a headphone-out to an effect or MFX build, but I was going to used it for my break-out box on the breadboard-station.

The main tricky bit with re-housing it would probably be the touch-sensor button for selecting cab-sims. I have a distinct feeling that figuring out that part is above my skill-set at the moment.

I have a cheap little Sonicake headphone amp (the JC-120 one). It’s not horrible. I use it to play while watching TV with the mrs. I also have an old Marshall MG30 that I have next to the couch (an impromptu end table, I suppose). Both are ok, neither excellent. There are tons of options, each with tons of options. I want a good clean amp, that I can run pedals into. Gotta be easy to build one of those, right?…
