That Pg.99 album is great - my favorite screamo release is Gospel's The Moon is a Dead World. It's a pretty interesting blend of styles, and I love their drummer.

If the resistor footprints are the common 1/2W size, I like Vishay PR02 resistors for that. They're metal film and remind me of some old Piher types, although they're not quite as dark.

Don't worry about the exact Q1 voltage. Q1 base voltage will be equal to Q1 Vbe since the emitter is grounded (0V). The Vbe will change some depending on how much current is flowing into (or out of, depending on NPN/PNP) the base, with more current making for a larger voltage drop, but it's not...

To me, the colorsound one (or in this case zero) knob fuzz and similar squeeze the most out of a very simple circuit. Put it first in the chain and your guitar's volume control can work as an effective "fuzz amount" control.
