This is with a fresh delay chip. It's alot more noticeable through headphones than through a 12" V-type. This clip is Scarlett --> GarageBand. TVJ Classic pickups which are generally sparkly clean.

Let me see if I can record something. It's almost like that "analog-tube-spring" noise you get from a tape delay. All those are technical terms by the way. ;)

I haven't tried anything different, but this is the same power supply/guitars/cable that I use to build/test probably 40 other pedals. I built 5 other Spirit Box pedals for him a couple weeks ago and tested them on this same rig. Trying to think if anything could be different with my setup...

Haha! I made one for him, then he asked for a few more to gift to some friends... then it was 5 more to sell for fundraising stuff, etc... This guy has some primo stuff, some talented friends, and they love the circuit. Said he may want 25 more to sell and raise money for music grants.

They look different than the ones I normally use, so I wondered that. But, I tried swapping in a 4558 (not the same, but it's all I had) with not audible change in tone or noise.

This is typically how I wire all my pedals. Still just a paint by number guy, but I've done probably 50+ pedals, and I don't usually run into noise like this. Even the production pedals I've taken the lid off of didn't use shielded wire. Would you suggest that wire for higher gain pedals...

Alright... I admit I bought a 10-pack of J201s off of Amazon. With the Umble circuit, I'm getting quite a bit of noise when the pedal is engaged. Honestly, could this be due to the quality of (or lack of) the J201s or is the noise just the nature of that higher gain circuit? Thanks.
