Agreed on the Fran. Bass fuzz is tricky for me. Sometimes there is this gross middy thing that happens that I can't stand. I'm telling you, you gotta try the fallout cloud, especially with something like frequency interchange to juice the goods, it's *chef's kiss*

Frajeelay question for those who have built it

All components involved in the little excursion circuit at R2 to the tl074 and the blend pot are correct. Didn't check pot for in spec, but it's the correct label. At ic2.4, Pin 12 is getting 4.18v, and pins 13 and 14, 4.562v, which mirrors its twin on the other side of the blend pot, ic2.1...

Help me, audio probe kenobi, you're my only hope

    Lead Solder Buzz

I know it's dumb, but make sure they are the right parts in the right places? I was totally stumped on a really complicated build until I realized that I had used TL071 instead of TL022. Also *convinced* that Q3 in my failed marigold build was PNP... it was not. The correct NPN substitution...

I am definitely not an expert, but I would suspect so. Maybe a fault/soldering on a coupling capacitor? I agree with the idea to run an audio probe. It might be the most definitive diagnosis.

After visual inspection, audio probe is the way.

Actually, my idea wasn't to check for ground where there should be ground, it was to check for ground continuity where there shouldn't be ground, like the side of components facing the audio path or in it directly. Is that electronically feasible? I think so ... If your solder side is clean...

But how do you know the right direction for sure, especially if there are brown bands on both ends????

Frajeelay question for those who have built it

Dirt is as expected with 100% effected signal (Blend @ full CCW) Clean signal is nowhere near unity with blend at 100% clean (Blend at or approaching full CW). Maybe 1/2? 1/4? This remains the case through the full span of the gain knob past the "kick in" point (7:30 or whatever)

You're going to stop with two more slots open? I guess they were taken up with the bounty of post #21. I'm most likely checking out the neurocyton and carcosa next order.

Frajeelay question for those who have built it

I'm starting to suspect something might be amiss in the blend part of my circuit. But I am prone to thinking there is a problem with a pedal when it's just the way the pedal is supposed to be. Full CW is very quiet, and the blend kind of drops off to clean pretty quickly after about 3:00...

    Here you go, bud (IC # according to ppcb layout), 9v-in reading at 9.37v at jack and all knobs at noon. Same readings with footswitch in either position. IC 1 (bottom center) 1: 0.988 2: 0.988 3: 0.922 4:-8.67 5: 0 6: -0.01 7: -0.001 8: 9.12 IC2 (top left) 1: -0.2 2: 0.001 3: 0 4: -8.68 5: 0...

    SOLVED Marigold....

... Put in the npn oval top hat transistor (2n169) [edit: 89 hfe] Yet another episode in what happens when you put the right components in correctly.... It, uh, works. Imagine that. Any advice on the D1 GE diode biasing deal?

the black oval top-hat kind are great. Can't recall their typical hfe, though.
