I’m ‘thinking’ that it may have to do with the cheapo, Amazon pedal power box that I have. I installed a switch to be able to leave it plugged in and be able to turn the pedal power on and off, and I’m guessing when I flip it on it might overpower the filter caps in these two pedals. I changed...
I got a new router six months, or so ago, but they were working fine after that. So I don’t think that’s it, but I’ll def take it into account! Thanks!
Thanks for that @andrewsrea !! Anybody ever hear or have an experience with surge bars causing havoc in pedals? Like static, or anything. I live in a house that was built in the 40’s, and I know the electrical has been updated since then, but it’s still old as hell! So, it could be something to...

yeah, pretty much. It gets worse tho, almost like an old tv on static. I’ve went thru the trim-pot route. Unfortunately, adding fixed resistors didn’t fix it. I’ve even soldered the trannies straight to the board and not used sockets, but that didn’t fix it. I’m almost done rebuilding both of...
That’s a GREAT idea with the looper! I never thought about that. I would try to do it while holding the guitar and strumming. Not too easy that way tho!hahah thanks for that!
I know, I know, there’s no pics. I talked about that in my OP. You’re right tho, rn the pedals don’t exist!lol I’ve taken them apart for the most part because I’m gonna rebuild them.
That’s what I thought it was too! And at the beginnings it seemed like ‘banging it’ helped, but then it got worse and moving the trained around didn’t help at all. That’s when I soldered them to the board itself.
I hear ya on the sockets. I tried taking the sockets out and soldering the trannies straight to the board, but that didn’t fix anything. I thought at one time that it was the cord, but I don’t think it was. I may just try your idea anyways and see if that helps at all.
I’m at a loss, also...
Not a silly question!lol I’ve made some obvious or “dumb” mistakes before, many times!!haha But, I used the same cables and I used different cables too. Because, I was also thinking that it may be the cable, but I don’t believe so. All my other pedals work, but those two. I can’t understand why...
Yes, I have a pedalboard with ten or so pedals on it, most of them I’ve built and a couple name brand pedals, they all work fine.
It doesn’t make the noise in bypass. As soon as I turn the pedal off it either stops, or slowly fades out, that made me think it was a capacitor issue, but I swapped...
Thank you for the replies!! I’ve come to the conclusion that it has to be in the pedal. Tried straight guitar into amp, and nothing. Guitar into pedal, it works for a minute or so, then straight crackle. Even tried using battery, and a one-spot, same crackle. So it HAS to be in the pedal! I’ve...
DISCLAIMER: this is not a troubleshooting thread, I’m just trying to get a discussion on this subject, because I can’t find too much on what could be the cause of issues like this. Any help helps!!!
EDIT: now this is a troubleshooting thread, since moving it.lol (8/4/25)
Alright, just a...
I made both of the testers from tagboardeffects.com and I could only get the greatly improved JFET tester II to comfortably work for me. The one without the opamp. The one with the opamp gives me Vp readings of ~9.5v, the same as the power voltage going in to the circuit. Idk why. I’ve checked...
