Also what would be a good starting point and range for R17 values? Like 12K-20K?

I socketed some red leds in D3/4. Definitely more volume and a little less less gain but sounds great to my ears. I’ll experiment with R17 and report back. Thanks so much for the advice

Thanks for replies. I’ve confirmed, I’m pretty sure that values past 3.1 are correct. Closely inspected under magnification there are no obvious bridges. Has anyone put this one together that can say for certain that there should be gobs of volume on tap?

Assembled and boxed the Nine Ball yesterday. It honestly sounds great but, in at least my build, with volume all the way up and gain halfway, it’s just a smidge below unity. Is this inherent to the circuit or did I likely do something wrong

Thanks! That’s a relief considering all that’s needed in BOM. Out of curiosity, using a Bat 46, what scenario would create a failure of regulator?

What potential issues may arise using Bat46 in place of Bat48 in D4. 48 has forward current of 350mA and 46 has 150mA. I plan on completing this over weekend and I’ll just socket D4 since I don’t have 48’s unless distinctly contraindicated.

Now I’ve noticed the hum!! Before boxing it up I played around with it and it sounded fine on its own and I figured it was good to go. What’s strange is how loud it is with a blues breaker circuit. Literally unusable. Sounds dead quiet with Greer light speed. Klon circuit it’s mildly noticeable...

I mean I kinda figured as much. But as it’s built, it already sounds pretty great. For a tone shaper it’s nice to have in the arsenal.
