The pedal sounds perfect when its run off the 9v battery. I check it with my one spot and I still get signal pass with the effect but a hum/hiss/buzz that renders it unusable.

Interesting, I'm definitely going to triple check but there is pretty good space back there and it did the same thing when I had the PCB out of the case.
I'm thinking maybe it's the diodes? The clipping in the muff circuit comes from the diodes if I'm not mistaken.
The sustain knob seems to be doing its job.
The volume is just really low. I realized that the volume has to be jacked to have equal volume with rhe dry....and the tone also jacked to have any kind of dirt.
I built a muffin fuzz, green Russian variety, a couple months back. I was doing some tests and now the gain is gone...
Its still kind of loud...but has the gain of a a blues driver.
never had this happen...any guesses?
Just a quick update: I socketed the transistors and it didn't decrease the massive buzz at all. I tested the ones I pulled out of both builds and they where fine.

I just got a $20 "humpucker" off ebay because I started tonhate the P90s in my baritone.
Wired up a coil split....tesi switch....makes a useless but fun guitar, lol.
Both boards have issues but not exactly the same. The same components and build but different issues.
The second build is just FUBAR so I'm just rebuilding it on vero.
