    Solder Brand

Necro thread bump. This is the solder that came with my Xtronic station. I've found it easy to use as well: https://www.amazon.com/AUSTOR-60-40-Solder-Electrical-Soldering/dp/B073LHK99Z/

    US source for germanium

Following up with my experience. I bought four NPN Ge transistors from this seller a couple months ago. All test good, low leakage, the leads are long enough for sockets, and they sound good in the Tactical Fuzz I just built. I have noticed that the gains of all four are between 25%-40% lower...

Tactical Fuzz - Not Cleaning Up, Trim Pot Issue?

By coincidence, I just finished a Tactical Fuzz tonight. I'm getting great cleanup from the volume pot, just like the Tacit Blue demos on YouTube. Gain for Q1 is in the high 80's, while Q2 is around 120. Both are low leakage and biased easily to 4.5V. If you haven't, take a look at the RG Keen...

Wiring the C-Buffer as a standalone unit

Thanks for the explanation. I'm hoping for something even more basic - no switch, just an always on buffer in a minimal enclosure. I just found this diagram in another thread. I think this is what I'm after?

Wiring the C-Buffer as a standalone unit

Thank you! Dumb question, but do you still need the 3PDT switch in this scenario? If so, can you jumper the switch pads to eliminate it?

SPDT Switches - Do you keep the washers? What is the correct way to install them?

I ditch the flat washer and just use the nut on top. Lock washer goes goes on the inside, natch.

Adding a buffer to fuzz with pickup simulator?

Hi all, I'm building a Tactical Fuzz (Thorpy Tacit Blue), which is basically an NPN Ge Fuzz Face with a 42TL019 transformer. I also have a C-Buffer board that I never got around to installing in anything. Would it be unwise to build the C-Buffer into the fuzz? I like the idea of having it at...

Thorpy The Dane - Modifying the boost to get unity volume

R23 is just below the B100K Boost pot. Here's a pic of a jumper in this location. The Boost pot at minimum is now unity volume. Thanks for the tip @Robert!

    Caesar Chorus Vibrato HPF

Based on the recommendation above, I pulled the 33n at C17 and installed a socket. Plugging a 82n into this location brought the low end back to the vibrato signal. Thanks @phi1!

My build of the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay (PedalPCB Seabed)

I'm curious... What's the purpose of the resistor and jumper wire on the input jack?

    Top Five '24

This year was about filling my Nano+ board with DIY builds. To that end, I built the following five pedals: 1) PPCB Curds & Whey. I've wanted a Prunes & Custard clone since learning that it's on Wilco's "A Ghost is Born". Love the crazy splatty wavefolding sound, but I actually get more use...

Can I make the Fordoble "Grit" switch do something (anything)?

So far I've tried D9B, BAT41, and 1N5817. I also have 1N4148, 1N914, 1N4001, and various LED's in my stash. Thanks for the tip about leaky diodes. I'll have to test my D9B's and see where they stand.

Can I make the Fordoble "Grit" switch do something (anything)?

I'm very happy with my Fordoble build, but for the life of me I can't hear a difference between the settings on the Grit switch. I have the Ge diodes socketed and tried different arrangements and different diodes, but no luck. Other build reports indicate that the difference between settings...

    Caesar Chorus EQ modifications

Digging this back up to see if the OP was able to beef up the bass in the Caesar at all. I find that my build also cuts bass in a noticeable way, especially when it's on full wet / vibrato mode.

    5mm Pitch PCB stacking

Slight thread drift, but using a nut as a support to push out pins is brilliant. Holding a socket in my fingers while I try to push with pliers hurts so much... no more!
