Yes, I always print the white layer twice. Granted, I always used matte black enclosures, so it’s necessary. For lighter color enclosures it may be fine to do just once, but darker, I would absolutely say it’s necessary. Especially for anything that is pure white in the design.

So when you say you removed the board, did you remove the LED as well? As in, did you eliminate the enclosure altogether from the equation? If the LED is staying lit, it means the ground connection is there. If you did remove everything entirely from the enclosure - and I mean everything...
