what can I make with these JFETs? (house part number, model unknown)

So I've found myself with a buttload of these pulled out of an old electric organ. Appears to be National Semiconductor: 065 (break) 00 (break) 711 I'm not versed enough in JFET specs to know what this compares to or where I can use it, I generally just use the JFET I'm told to use 😅. What...

verodesigner: a free schematic to vero software - a review

Howdy. I gave this program a couple hours long spin and would like to share my experience. https://verodesigner.vercel.app/ a free HTML based app that quickly and intelligently creates a vero layout from a schematic. the short version: for being free, it's downright incredible. next to no...

This Week on the Breadboard: Germ Warfare

i REALLY want to hear this one. I've made a couple "box of germanium" and had to bias them very carefully to get it into crunch territory, which made it VERY bright, so the tonestack and LPFs on the end had to be tweaked. this seems like a really fun evolution

    LFO Expression Pedal

forgive the necro bump, someone asked if I could make something like this. a triggerable expression sweep with controls for the upper and lower limits. not a constant LFO, but a single tap to trigger that will start from the set low value, sweep at a rate controlled via (probably digital?)...

    Favorite Promethium/HM-2 mods?

reduces the gain of the boost section from "way too much" screaming death mode to a more reasonable distortion pedal. very similar to the Orman DS-1 mod.

    Hirsute Fuzz vintage silicon

heard. though I will also present this: when you have a tackle box full of mojo transistors, put them in a fuzz :D It's starting to look like hoarding parts as opposed to collecting them to use at the right time. I'm not a dragon, they aren't treasure.

    Hirsute Fuzz vintage silicon

Thank you. I haven’t yet, and somehow it has slipped my mind. But I’ll have to get around to that one. Maybe throw in some vintage transistors and see what magic it holds

Smaller input cap, larger output cap. More balanced than just nuking the input cap. Gets to squawky like that.

    Hirsute Fuzz vintage silicon

Thank you 😊. It’s waterslide, which gets a little rocky when the surface isn’t flat. So any raised bumps in the paint were very gently sanded. Clear coat, sand, clean, repeat until the surface is relatively flat. Clear waterslide plays a little nicer, especially tossed in the oven on low for a...

    Hirsute Fuzz vintage silicon

A little over a year ago I posed about the germanium Hirstute Fuzz Vintage Deluxe, a shimmery purple affair with a switchable pre-gain and a giant VU meter in the center. My interest in getting more out of a fuzz face has not ceased. So now I present Hirsute Fuzz Vintage Silicon. Powered by...

    Perplexed

ahhh so you did the same as I did, but yours looks better. I've submitted that as a request and it was ignored. MOST of us are using the small trim pots and layouts drawn with the x-small footprint don't play nice unless you bend the pins funny.

@HamishR where did you find a component footprint for the trim pots? or did you make your own?
