Finally, here's a little light cover I made from a bit of a squirty cream can rolled into shape and soldered together. Idea is to permit tweaks to the trim pots with the back off without ambient light influencing things. It's probably not ideal being shiny inside but at least it looks rough.

Hahaha, that's fair. I'll come back with some details of the mod shortly but in essence it's taking the LFO signal to a bi colour common anode LED and modifying the switch to send the blue or red cathode to ground.

Built an Electrovibe in a cream enclosure. Did a bit of modding to get the speed LED flashing with the LFO and changing colour. Used correspondingly coloured speed knobs. Hadn't seen this before but seemed a fairly obvious way of providing a visual indicator. Not convinced I've dialed it in...

Robert, just wanted to update this. I've been through the schematic and pcb continuity checking and inspecting and all is well except a lifted pad for the 3.3v regulator output. I can deal with this using a small jumper wire. All things considered I have been extremely lucky but I think this is...

Robert, thanks for the kind offer. I'm going to do a continuity check of all the pads and visual inspection first. Will let you know if all is well.

Apologies, I should have been clearer. I have taken the chip off the board (after removing just about every other component) to make absolutely sure where the problem was, so the short is definitely in the chip. I had wondered if it had triggered some sort of internal protection in the chip...

I think I've managed to kill an FV-1 before getting any sound out of it! I ordered a Deflector board with a pre-soldered chip and populated it in the normal manner EXCEPT I used an SMD 3.3v regulator on an adaptor board. I checked orientation on the datasheet but missed the critical note that...
