    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

On turning down the gain 2 pot to around 9:00 or so: The white noise can indeed be made to disappear. I also notice at this level subtle but audible clock noise on the repeats. Pedal will not self oscillate with gain 2 in this position (even w feedback knob maxed) is the other thing I made note...

    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

@rurEEE thanks for your input on this. I've brought this up on the groupdiy forum in hope that we can get more suggestions. Discussing the white noise: - - - - - - - - I don't have an oscilloscope - but if this seems worth checking out and someone can measure next time they are in front of...

    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

Today I attempted to further troubleshoot: •Pulled R23 and wired it to IC 4 The idea was to bypass the pcb traces that crossed w many others in case there was some sort of crosstalk. Unfortunately the same issue persists so I took a quick video. I play a bit at the end just to show that...

    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

In the absence of another solution I’d like to start pulling up resistors to bypass parts of the audio path on the pcb via a wire. The idea behind this is that the white noise issue could be some sort of crosstalk. Does anyone have any ideas on where I might start with this? From my testing the...

@bean did you have a chance to look into this?

@Lorok yea dig that enclosure. @MichaelW I agree - love that it’s just like the old big box. Excited to hear any updates on a path forward!

    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

Turns out that resistor was fine - I learned resistors don't always measure their inherent value when in a circuit. So I tried reflowing the solder and then just replaced the parts between test points 2 and 4. I also tried swapping out the MN3005 in IC9. All to no avail. Still open to...

    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

I actually managed to isolate the problem to a certain area of the board between test points 2 and 4, and there turned out to be a bad resistor at R26 (measured 12k when it's supposed to be 100k). I'll report back if my noise issue is solved upon replacing it. It's a fun build! Make sure you...

    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

Interesting about the 5k resistor. I'm not sure if that would affect the issue - there's also no 5k resistor in the older Total Recall build and every demo of it I see on youtube there is no white noise wooshing. I may have made some progress though - I realized the noise on mine gets...

    Madbean Total Recall 2024 - Can't calibrate

I just finished building one of these and have the exact same issues you present here. Did you manage to make any progress? I noticed that turning the delay time down the noise goes away (I think because it goes up into inaudible frequency range). But I'm still scratching my head on whether it's...
