So, a dumb question...

I soldered in a dip socket upside down. So long as I insert the chip in the right direction, will that matter?

Or should I do the right thing and desolder the whole thing and fix it?
 
Just put a drop of paint on the other end of the socket as a reminder, should you ever remove the chip sometime in the future - e.g., use something bright like white, yellow, etc.
I hand thought of that, but knowing me, I will need the visual reminder!
