Anyone Try These Bigguns From LMS?

I need some bigger enclosures, mostly because I'm a dink who still leaves room for a battery in most builds. With some boards, even a 1590BB gets tight.

Anybody try these black powdercoated BB2's from Love My Switches? Under 9 bucks, not bad. They DO give a disclaimer that they'll be imperfect (bubbles, etc) but I wonder HOW rough they are... https://lovemyswitches.com/1590bb2-125bb-enclosure-bare-aluminum-powder-coat/

I had been looking at Tayda's which are only a little cheaper, but seems like some people might be having chipping issues with their powdercoated enclosures lately (not the UV problem)...

I really like them. They are like eggshell in terms of glossiness. But yeah, not perfect, but it’s never bothered me.

This is one of those bad boys:

My Boss builds that are white base have all been the 125b version:

Isn't that a 1790? My eyes have convinced me.

I picked up a BB2 from LMS a while back…

The black powercoat had no major issues.

Absolutely, I'm sure their standard powdercoated enclosures are top-notch. I'm specifically wondering about the imperfect black BB2's they kinda shoved into the Bare Aluminum 1590BB2 listing. So that's what you got, @jcpst? Good to hear they're decent!

This is what they say:

"For only $1 more! Choose the Black Powder Coat. The finish is not for perfectionists, and you should expect to see some bubbles or other slight mars. We'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. But, for only $1 more, we think it's a pretty darn good value."

I'm not sure if any other sizes even offer this option, actually!

Ive bought a few of them. I noticed a few imperfections. Nothing major. But it is noticeable in my opinion. I probably wouldnt use them for a build i was building for someone else and charging them.

Very good to know, thanks! I'm still kinda getting my feet wet (only a year in) so they'd really be for my own use/testing. I suppose I could just stick with bare aluminum, but I figure the black might be a good surface to screen print or use paint pen on.
It doesn’t help that matte black seems impossible not to scuff.
Oh, are they matte black? They don't mention that, but since you've bought some you'd know! Hmm the bare enclosure is sounding better and better, ha...
They don’t “scuff”, they “Relic”.
Eh if I want relic I'll toss it in the dryer with a bike chain... 🚲
