Panspermia Fuzz - Problems when Guitar Volume is turned up

I remember breadboarding this a while ago. I too had to dial back the volume knob a touch for that sweet spot. It’s just the nature of the circuit.

    Is it contest time again?

Feel free to submit this as an entry to PHB contest I'm holding now. It will knock the current breadboard leader right on their ass. I'm looking for actual builds and circuits, not memes at the moment.

    Extracting FX10 tone control

I’d start with 1M and work from there on a breadboard.

    Astrotone on stripboard

Honor system, but we wont check. We just want people to build. Up to you if you want to submit it. I’m tired of just memes.

    Extracting FX10 tone control

You may be overthinking it. If it were up to me I’d add a coupling cap for whatever section you want to put before it (dirt of some kind) and add a bias resistor from 1/2 voltage supply. Instant circuit Lego and a good breadboard candidate.

    Astrotone on stripboard

My inventory build contest. The Player Haters Ball. Despite all the memes on there it’s a legit build contest.

    Deflector Reverb/ Secondhand Glitter

    Nice job!!

    Astrotone on stripboard

Not bad for a first stripboard build! The key off board wiring is keeping the wire lengths to a minimum. Oh, and feel free to ignore this, but you should submit this in our contest. You can win prizes!

    Nein Fuzz

Vero builds absolutely count! Kudos to you for doing your own layout. I also have issues sometimes with rattle cans. Sand the bare enclosure first a bit, then the primer. A few clear coats on top and then wait a few DAYS to fully cure. You’ll get marginally better results. Or I suck at spray paint.

    Kliche Mods/Socket Recommendations

If you really want to get into modifications and find out "what component does what" I would suggest breadboarding an OD along with doing some research on opamps (inverting vs non-inverting) and tone controls. Breadboarding seems intimidating until you do it once successfully. There are tons of...

    Kliche Mods/Socket Recommendations

A Klon is known more for it's EQ characteristics than it's gain settings. Like, if you make a tubescreamer with a mid scoop it's not a TS anymore. Once you start veering away from a stock Klon you'll be walking a gray line. My advice is to see if you like a stock Klon first before going down the...

    Commercial Build vs DIY Build

DIY people are toan chasers. Commercial guys aren't. Very few people, if any, get into DIY with the original intention of making money. It happens to be a byproduct for some.

What to make with 30-50 hFE Germaniums

Take a look at the Test Kitchen forum. There are tons of breadboarding tutorials with lots of hand holding. Breadboarding is intimidating until you actually do it and then wonder why you were worried in the first place.

    Aionfx Hypercube

Had to do a double take. I thought you soldered all your components on the wrong side of the board. Then I saw it was an Aion build. Either way, nice job.

Fuzz Pedal No Output – Only Hiss at High Volume Despite Clean Assembly and PCB

You'll need to provide some clear pictures of your build, front and back. There could be multiple things going on. Cold solder joint, wrong component value, wiring, transistor orientation, etc. We might see something you can't.

Frost Drive spluttery, works only when i thouch it on the back of the pcb????

Your charge pump is your first problem. Pins 1 and 8 should be around 9V which you mention above. Pin 5 should be -9V or close to it. Where did you get your charge pump? Could be a fake or got damaged.

    Crunch Captain Deluxe low volume?

Also, that's a pretty sweet audio probe you built.
