    Informant

This is a Tayda printed enclosure. As for the design, I was thinking of the 80s, as inspired by the original maker "1981". Of course the colors reflect this but I also used an altered version of the old Screen Gems logo and the Serpentine font (also used by Nintendo). I was going for that...

    buy/sell/trade ?

Am I missing it or is there no buy/sell/trade area here? I have several germanium diodes leftover from my Duocast build I'd like to sell. Not for profit, just cost + $1 for a stamp. Let me know if it's cool to post more info about this somewhere. Thanks! (PS I looked for official forum rules but...

    Duocast noob question

Those caps need to be 35V to account for the voltage switch -- which goes between 9V and 27V. The next lowest cap voltage is 25V which is not enough, obviously. You could jumper the switch to always be at 9V, then you could get away with smaller caps. But I wouldn't recommend it, you will want...

    Duocast: damaged transformer?

update...new transformer, everything's working great. One of the transformer pads lifted so I had to run a jumper but otherwise, piece of cake!

    Duocast: damaged transformer?

Ah yes, 25k-ish in parallel, should have realized. Okay. At least I know. I've got a new transformer coming, was ordering for my Informant build anyway so no biggie. Thanks much!

    Duocast: damaged transformer?

I realized last night that I had the wrong value in R15, 8k instead of 33k. They're labeled on the pcb and everything, not sure how I managed that! Could that have done any damage to the transformer? I've since replaced it with the correct value. I checked the other resistors and they're all...

    Fuzz like the Loomer?

I've played a Loomer and really like the fuzz side, but don't need the reverb. Some people say it's like a Big Muff, others say it's like a Fuzz Face...either way there are many derivatives of each so that doesn't narrow it down. Is there something among pedalpcb's selection that is similar to...

    Duocast: damaged transformer?

Thanks, I figured it was not a simple test. The fact that I get full functionality right up to the primary, but nothing from pin 6, seems pretty definitive that there's an issue with the transformer. But as I said, I'm noob-ish and thought I could be missing something. I just hope the current...

    Duocast: damaged transformer?

alrighty then...I'm going to order a new transformer and see what that does. If I can do anything or provide more information to get a better help response on this forum, please let me know. Thanks

    Duocast: damaged transformer?

anyone? feel free to tell me how dumb I am. I'm just looking for some direction to investigate. The wrapping on the transformer was slightly separated. Is that some indication that it was maybe roughed up during shipping or somehow defective?

    Duocast: damaged transformer?

I built the Duocast and got nothing from the output jack. After checking everything I can think of it seems to be functioning perfectly -- up until the transformer. Using an audio probe with Gain, Level 1 and Level 2 turned about halfway up I get output all the way up to the transformer primary...

    DuoCast - internal voltage switch?

Thanks for the input, I decided to put a regular toggle on the back panel. Here's a mockup of my enclosure. Obviously inspired by The Monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey, which is a beacon/broadcast tower of sorts :D The enclosure is matte dark gray so it will resemble a monolith itself. I've...

    DuoCast - internal voltage switch?

I'm building the Duocast and hoping to fit it in a 1590BB enclosure and utilize Tayda's enclosure printing service. This shouldn't be hard if the pot legs are shortened - the only sticking point is the toggle. Regular Taiway-style switches are still too tall to leave enough room for the...

    film caps vs ceramic caps?

Lots of builds specify ceramic caps when the value is in the picofarad range, 330pf etc. Why is this? It's usually easy enough to find a film cap of the same value. Is there any harm or disadvantage to using a film cap where a ceramic is specified?

    LT1054, linear or switching?

I'm building the DuoCast. Mouser has both "linear" and "switching" varieties for the LT1054 and the BOM does not specify. Which one do I want? and (briefly) what is the difference? Thanks!
