    Bassdude flat sound settings Help

You're never going to get a completely flat response out of the Bassdude, the tonestack in that one is different from the typical Fender/Marshall/Vox stack where setting treble mids bass for 0-10-0 is flat. Can I ask why it's important to get a flat response? The goal of a pedal is to change...

    Removing Powder Coat

I've always just used orbital sander and/or belt sander, acetone alone will not dissolve powdercoat like it will spraypaint. I will say that completely stripping an entire enclosure is a frustrating process and is likely to change the shape unless you're an expert sander, particularly on corners.

SOLVED Issues with Tayda UV Printing on 125B Case

I used to leave pure white on my color layer for that reason, but I had a batch of 25 enclosures that were ruined because whoever was running the machine that day decided that my pure white was supposed to be printed white. I complained and was refunded for them, but it delayed my builds by a...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Yup, all of my builds with a D.I. use a different XLR daughter board that has an XLR output volume control down there by the ground lift switch.

    JC Emerald DIY version?

Nope, C2C will never release a DIY project for an active Sushi Box product. If it ever gets discontinued at Sushi Box then it's fair game.

I'd have to re-read the thread to double check, but I thought it actually was one of them lol

You guys really upset that bot...

Call me crazy, but something made me doubt that guy really had the secret to the meaning of life.

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

I placed an order May 14th, customs duties were charged at checkout. $191.67 of goods and a $107.18 customs charge.

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

I got another batch of quotes from one of the domestic PCB assembly shops I talked to last week at the convention. I gave everyone three designs and asked for quotes for 100 pieces of each so I can get an idea how they will land for the rest of my lineup. Then I compare their quotes with what I...

Professional vs amateur-ish in PCB design

Nope. Amateur comes from the latin "amator" which means one who loves. It does not have any implication of excelling at something, it simply means someone who enjoys doing something. There are things that I enjoy doing that I am terrible at, which makes me an amateur at these. I take issue with...

So instead of splitting my orders to keep everything below $800, I guess now I'm grouping them together to try to keep them above $800? Weird but okay, works for me.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

REW is what I used when I was developing the spec for the Unagi E4305 and testing prototypes, but that was a while ago and I haven't used it since.

Recommended components for JLCPCB assembly process...

Not a terrible idea, I've done that in the past for parts that JLC doesn't stock.

Steddi, Go! - simple tube D.I.

It's really down to gain level, it's about how loud you want the output to be. No reason not to try a 5751 as well.

Would you please share information about the power consumption of the different PCBs😁👍

Yep, that's me. I design things and talk about them on the internet instead of sleeping.

Relay Bypass – do I really need one?

TGP mostly feels to me like facebook for people that complain about facebook. It seems like >60% of the threads there have nothing to do with music. I occasionally read a thread here or there, but I mostly hang out there to peruse the classifieds.

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

Yeah contacting for quotes is pretty standard for everything outside of the hobbyist realm unfortunately. I imagine the main driver for that is going to be assembly though. JLC is the only assembly place I'm aware of that offers instant quoting, but that's because you use JLC's library...

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

It's still not incredibly common, but it's a lot more common than it was even 10 years ago. We deal with the occasional flex and rigid-flex designs at my work. I know there are some hobbies like cosplay/costume design where people do flex PCBs to fit in weird form factors and stuff, but frankly...

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

Probably? I'm not cool enough to design anything that uses them, but it seems to be a pretty common thing offered by most manufacturers.

There was one shop, Ninja Circuits, that says prototyping and small runs are their thing. Minimum quantity is one of the first things I ask, and where most of them were in the 100-500 range, Ninja Circuits said their minimum quantity is 1. I don't know what their pricing is, but basically...
