ah i might try tayda then! i've been drilling my own from bare aluminum and just recently spray painted a few gold, but the enclosures are what interests me least about the whole thing.

i love my magnetron, one of my favorites so far. the modulation sounds awesome, it really does feel like a proper tape warble (to the degree that it can). love the enclosure and thanks for a great demo!

just finished this one tonight, i'm not really thrilled with it but i also used the 33k and 100pf, so i may switch those out in the future. after building the duocast, everything else feels meh to me.

looks like there's some options around 200 bucks, i don't have the space so hand drill with a step bit is the best i can do.

I've gotten a ton better at drilling the enclosures, make sure to use a center punch the start the holes, that made it go from hard to medium. Then the step bit for the hand drill was the other missing piece. 30 bucks total probably but the step bit also saves a bunch of bit changes, i can drill...

i JUST got this board in today hahaha! only on to the resistors though, might have to use a 3k instead of the 2k7 for R25 and a 7k5/5k6 for R11. i have to review the schematic to see if there's any material difference to the sound. i love the enclosure color, it looks awesome! excited to put...

ancient thread here but is it the charge pump that gets burnt out without the voltage protection of the 1N4742?

I just finished one of these the other night and I know I subbed some caps... I think I got the 8n2s special though. That technique never occured to me so thanks for sharing.

after doing some more research, i found this where the guy solved it with a different power supply. this worked, one of mine is apparently really crappy, and the other two are relatively quiet (one very quiet). i was about to buy more charge pumps so this is a relief!

Here's what I got using an LT1054P. Sill a significant whine. Slightly higher pitch and a bit quieter. Going to examine other charge pump options with 20kHz+ switching frequency. Is 20kHz the right threshold, or is it higher because of some sampling thing or something?

Ah ok, the switching frequency makes sense now. No luck soloing it or moving the wires around.

I have continuity between 1 and 8 while the pedal is unconnected and unpowered. I attached a pic of the guts, I don't think the wires are too close but it's definitely not shielded wire. @jwin615 what do you mean by trying it solo and heterodyning? New term to me. I really appreciate all...

yes I figured it was octaves but I had no idea where it would come from. 1a. TC1044SCPA from Mouser 1a. three of the same part number, from the same order. 2. i'll attach a photo shortly, i don't recall it being any different than any other pedal i've built.

i've only built aionfx kits to date, this is now going to be the first i build from pcb. already in love, nice build.
