    DEMO Australis (Greer-a-like content)

I used my Fender Player Tele for all of the tracks. The rhythm parts were the Tele's middle position, through the low-gain mode of the Australis, into separate clean AC30 and Deluxe Reverb patches, using York Audio IRs for the cabinet sounds, and hard panned. The lead was the bridge pickup, with...

Recorded a demo this evening. Would love some feedback.

    Bring out yer Diptrace

Help or not, if that's your first attempt, I have no doubt you're also going to be really good at this!

    Bring out yer Diptrace

Nothing technical from me here, but rather something pragmatic. I tend to copy the power schematic from my earlier designs and reuse the generic parts in each subsequent layout. This has meant my boards have a 9V line for the LED that branches out prior to the diode, as the first circuit recipes...

    Dual effect 3-way switch

Thank you. It always looks so simple after someone explains! Edit: But actually I don't understand the DP3T part. Is this any different to a DPDT on-on-on?

    Dual effect 3-way switch

Hi folks, I'm sure someone here can point me in the right direction. I'm designing an effect for someone that has both a boost and an octave up. I'd like to have a toggle that allows switching between 3 modes: boost, octave and octave into boost. I tried to work this out with a diagram of a...

Nice one @music6000, I enjoy this Rat variant too. You went for real Germaniums in place of the work-alikes, nice! The Bass control is really only needed if using as an OD but it's very useful in that scenario. Thanks @JamieJ, I learned from the best (aka Robert).

    Bring out yer Diptrace

I try and do ground layers both top and bottom. I've done VREF on a plane before, but it was because I was having trouble routing the board without it. I just use the default clearance in DipTrace and have not had an issue with it.

    Bring out yer Diptrace

Exactly this. Pot location is set by how the front of my pedal is designed to look, then I subtract 16mm from the Y coordinate of the knob position to place the pot pads. All of this is much easier if you design the board with the origin point being the centre of the pedal enclosure and not just...

Your best/favorite high gain pedal combo's of today

I haven't used my Paragon to boost other pedals, but I might try it now that you have suggested the idea. Nobody has mentioned the PedalPCB Tyrian or Sanguine in this thread, but I really like them both. Super high gain, very amp like. Both have a different character, I think about them like...

    Mach 1

Thanks for the kind words. I put mine last in the chain, just before my amp simulator. I like higher gain pedals earlier in the chain and low-gainers last. My drive chain actually contains 3 Lightspeed-based drives, they stack really well with each other. I have one variant that is switchable...

    Mach 1

It's probably time I admit I'm obsessed with the Mach 1 circuit. I have built a number of my own versions of it and have even been designing a distortion pedal based on it. Today I decided to actually build my Mach 1 board and am pleased with the outcome. The enclosure is a bit of an...

    I'm an idiot

+1 to contacting Tayda. Hugo gave me $70 store credit last week because the LED lampshades had incorrect drill hole dimensions on the Tayda website and I got a bunch of pre-drilled enclosures where the lampshade could fall through the mounting hole as a result. They were super cool about it.

Help me understand this schematic (Mach 1, Southern Belle)

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I thought this might be the best place to ask another question about the Timmy bass control. If I reverse the wires to the lugs, will this operate more like a conventional control (CCW = cut, CW = add)? Do I also need to change the taper of the pot? The...

Clean Preamp for DIY practice amp - suggestions please

I ended up ordering the PCB again with the correct switch footprint. Couldn't work out a fudge that I was actually going to be able to pull off because the holes were already drilled in the enclosure. I ordered a Pulse PM112 cheapo guitar speaker cabinet. It will do fine for the kids, and if...

    DEMO Australis (Greer-a-like content)

After a few months of being crazy busy with work and family, it's been nice to get on the tools again and work on some projects just before Christmas. I love the Greer overdrive circuits and have built a few different versions combining the Mach 1 and Southern Belle schematics from this...

Clean Preamp for DIY practice amp - suggestions please

Oops, so I made a slight mistake with my board for this project. I accidentally put the wrong DPDT switch DipTrace component in my PCB design and didn't pick up the error. Now I have physical boards that won't fit a mini or sub-mini DPDT toggle. Anyone know what kind of DPDT switch might work...
