I know dude. I'm tracking your issue. There is definitely something strange on that build. Those noises you are getting are definitely digital artifacts, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where they might be coming from.
EDIT: We'll get to the bottom of it.
I don't know if I'm ready to build one. At this point I'm just looking to procure one. I brought this up at band practice tonight, and our lead guitarist suggested a blues junior -- any thoughts?
I am in the market for a relatively cheap, low-power tube amp that I can use to test pedals. I don't need anything loud, I just need a small tube amp that I can push with some of the high-gain pedals I am building. Just to put this into perspective, I have a Line 6 Spider V guitar amp and a...
I love the fact that you are drawing an analogy between leveling up your playing and leveling up your pedal building. I am by no means an expert, and there are experts on this forum, so take everything I am about to say with a grain of salt.
The first (and most important thing) is having the...
And by the way, I really love the color of this enclosure. I bought one this color by accident, and I thought oh man what am I going to do with this? But it grew on me. There's something about this color that make it feel rich, and when you drop it on a pedal board with other colored pedals...
I love how the graphic looks like three 1590A pedals lined up side by side.
And what, can't a guy just compliment a fellow pedal builder on their outstanding spelling skills?
Nice build! Your graphics look great, and I totally agree with your assessment of how much fun this pedal is. I got mine with the FV1 pre-soldered too. As @Giorfida said, at $20 I'd rather not screw that one up.
Oh and great job on the spelling too!
I always check the with the DMM, but my meter does weird things with the decimal point. For example, it's show me the value of a 100K as 0.1M etc. If it's late ad there's thinking involved, I've been known to get it wrong a time or two.
I hear you man. I too have been doing more building than playing, but I have a gig coming up, so I need to be prioritizing practice. I think I get the most out of this when I spend a while building, and then spend a while playing. When I build new pedals, I use that as an opportunity to try...
That whole era was bad. The first house I owned was built in the 70s, and I was scared to live there because of what was inside the walls. I'll take a historic house any day over that.
Ironically, knob and tube is fairly safe compared to some of the things I've seen. With knob and tube, you just need to add a ground -- and in those old houses, you have a network of radiant heat piping that can provide your ground. Some of the most dangerous stuff I have seen is in houses...
When I lived in Memphis, my house was built in 1926, and the house I have in DC was built in 1930 -- wanna talk about not up to code? Hell my Memphis house had knob and tube wiring. Every time I opened up a wall I got a surprise. Not much different here, but I've lived here for 23 years, and...
