    A-B-C switcher with order

Hi all! Some time ago @Feral Feline was talking about loopers and he piqued my interest but what he was writing about was not entirely what I needed. I managed to pester him into buckling to answer my questions and expand my knowledge of switches/loopers and general electronics as well! One...

Haha I known tell me about it. I was in the situation where I just about had time to either check the voltages or run some audio through it. My sensible head said check the voltages incase I f@&k something else up. I don’t want to continue trouble shooting this one anymore. Now matter how much I...

Right then!! Think we are getting somewhere. I replaced all the chips and took readings again. And now I have voltages on the right hand side of IC4!! Finally. They are all close enough to the voltages on the build doc. Unfortunately life has got in the way and I can’t bloody test it right...

    Thanks @music6000 for your help so far! I could adjust bias 2 to get 7.5 V on pin 5 IC4 I got no voltage at all on IC4 pin 6 and 7 though. I changed the 100K bias 2 trim pot. New one measuring around 98K. Still the same voltages. IC4 1 0 2 0 3 -7.6 4 - 15.3 5 - 7.5 6 0 7 0 8 0 I had no...

Before I go on, I just want to say a massive thanks to you all. You are all being so helpful! @music6000 1) Yes I have continuity between reg out and R60 I replaced the voltage reg. I now have -29.6V at DC jack. 2) Into Voltage reg 28.3V Out of voltage reg -15.3V R60 -15.3V R45 -15.3V Bias...

Could be. I have others so no big issue to change it.

Ok So I put a new R57 in measured at 238.3 ohms so close enough! With NO voltage reg in place (I removed the old one earlier!) I get -31.45 at the input jack. I get -31.45 at both sides of R57 (and no heat) I get -30.02 at voltage reg pin in (middle one) I get 0V at the reg output (top one) I...

Ok I just looked his up and you’re correct it’s the same model. His says GK163 Vb, CHN 922 Mine says GK1F5, CHN 106 I dont this makes any difference though. So should I continue on with it??

Mornng all! Back at it again this morning! don't worry @jimilee im beginning to feel the same about this pedal haha1 And yes I do have continuity between pin 6 and 6 on IC6 and IC7! @music6000 yes that is rather high but if you look at the mad bean voltages. The power supply with out a load...

Hi @music6000 So I lifted the R57 leg closest to the reg. I’m getting -32.89 out of the power supply now. -31.89 at the back of the DC Jack. -32.90 on the +/- points on the board. -32.85 on the right hand side of R57. -32.80 on the left of the resistor (lifted side) No other voltages on...

    SOLVED Madbean total recall

Ok. So as suggested I re checked the voltages and as you can see they are wildly different than before. As suggested could this be a dodgy R57 as it’s getting too hot to touch or a dodgy voltage reg which isn’t giving anywhere near what it used to or what it’s supposed to. See pic for new...

@music6000 That was correct. Now I’m not. And not at pin 8 on Ic6 either. I went back to the start and am getting -24.6 in. So a bit lower than before. I’m getting 24.6 going into R57 and -6.6 out. I am also only getting 6.6v on both the I and O of the voltage reg 😩 could this be a power issue...

ok @music6000 I get -1.1v on leg 3 of bias 2 And the range of pin 2 bias 2 goes from 0.5v to -1v at its max. No where near -7.5!

Hi @music6000 All continuity checks were done with no power connected. I just pulled the chip and checked the pins. I have no continuity between any of IC4 pins and each other. I’m getting 0v on IC4 pins 5,6,7 and 8. On another note while I was just testing this I could “smell” heat. I...
