    Tommy and the vacuum cleaner

Did it disappear completely? I still have it, but I can push the knobs a little bit more. And to be honest the settings in which the squeal appear are pretty useless. Still gonna do some extra troubleshooting on this one.

Lets not ruin a good story by saying no;)

    Tommy and the vacuum cleaner

Good to know! It's a TL072 so that might just be the problem.

    Tommy and the vacuum cleaner

Edit: Did some extra testing and I still get the squeal without the vacuum cleaner if I push the volume or gain knob all the way up. It’s late in my location so I‘ll let it rest for tonight. My guess now is it might be the opamp. Tests to do tomorrow!

    Tommy and the vacuum cleaner

Kinda of a funny one, kind of a weird one. I was just putting my Tommy III back in it’s enclosure last night after painting it. With the dpdt up it was all good and working like a charm. But with the dpdt downward there was this high pitched squeel that almost tore my ears of. I took it out of...

SOLVED General Tso's comp - not 'flashy' enough?

Same thing with my general tso. I think its supposed to be like that because the pedal sounds great.

POLL - Do you use 3PDT breakout boards?

I know they're not very expensive, but since I'm used to not using them I don't bother spending an extra buck on a build.

    Spirit box pulldown resistors change?

Nevermind! New switch did the trick :)

    Spirit box pulldown resistors change?

Hey guys! I’ve built a spirit box and like it very much(even though I’ve agreed to sell it to a friend who likes it more). But it makes quite a rumble when you turn it on. Not really like a regular pop that you often get with true bypass switching. It sounds like you’re moving an amp with...

I use D9K diodes in mine. Sounds lovely!

    Germanium transistors great/usable/useless?

I actually have one semi-finished. Thought I’d cut the ac125’s currently in it, install sockets and start putting these in. If nothing else than to see what happens. Doesn’t sound right as it is.

    Germanium transistors great/usable/useless?

Ok so I do have a little bit of knowledge about what the common HFE’s for fuzz face and tonebenders are, but don’t know so much about leakage and at what measurements a transistor is deemed useless. I bought some cheap asy37s from Poland to get started measuring and they’ve said to be good...

    Tommy III volume mod

Cheers man! Seems like removing R5 is the way to go. At least I’ll try that first. If I’m still not happy I‘ll jumper R6.

    Tommy III volume mod

Weird question perhaps, but I feel like this pedal has a bit to much volume and it's hard to find the sweetspot. Should I change the pot to a lower value or R5 to a higher value?

    M800 trimmers, can I use 50k?

Cheers mate! I definitely take your word for it! I’m getting pedalpcb’s own j201 smd-converts since I’ve heard so many horror stories about fakes from ebay. Suppose I’ll just have to get some 100k’s than. Luckily I’m getting more pcb’s on monday to keep me busy while waiting.

    M800 trimmers, can I use 50k?

I believe I know the answer to this, but thought no harm in asking. So excited about getting this build going, only to realise I forgot to order 100k trimmers. Would 50k’s have enough range to get the jfets to 4,5v?

Yeah pin headers would be awesome, but ordering the, will take longer than my patience can take haha.. Think I’ll use sockets, but might be a last minute call. I used 2n5485’s for an Obsidius and thought it sounded awesome as a replacement in that pedal, but think the M800 calls for some real J201.

    mmbfj201

Getting these in the mail next week to finally get my M800-build going. Was wondering if people usually use sockets with these or solder them directly to the board? Worried that using resistor-cutoffs for legs will be a bit thin and will make the jfets not sit tight enough in the sockets.

    Went scavaging

Had I only known! I got it for next to nothing because one pot wasn’t working right. Was going to fix it, but wound up scavaging it instead because when I first got it I needed some tl072 immidiately.
