Is it just me or is the Simulcast kinda bright?

I'm a guy who likes bright but the Broadcast has just been painfully bright in every demo I've heard. Still on the fence about building one to try it out.

PedalPCB Terrarium - Compact Daisy Development Platform

Have you considered incorporating a dual-relay with the Terrarium? Digitally controlled Relay Bypass would eliminate the latency when bypassed. We'd get to have True Bypass when wanted, but also have options for Reverb Tails. I think it would only cost the space of the Dual Relay, 2 BJT...

    Inexpensive power supply

That's a good question. I'd think you'd need a transformer with multiple secondaries, rather than multiple taps, for ground isolation. That's probably how the pro / truly isolated units are designed. Like this:

    Inexpensive power supply

The thing is, the truly isolated supplies have a transformer, rectifier, filter and regulator for each output. If you're not going to do that, then all of your DIY hours are going to result in something just as good or worse than the $35 Donner unit.

    Inexpensive power supply

I'd think twice before feeding 120VAC into a perfboard. You could run an cheap 18V wall-wart into then split it into 10 outputs, each with their own 9V voltage regulator and choke to filter noise... all to create a work-alike of the $30 Donner unit.

    Inexpensive power supply

Good call. I know it stings a little to spend so much on a power supply, but this is a pretty clear "Buy nice or buy twice" situation.

Did you ever get this working?

    Pedal making in the buff(er)

The complaint I've heard, is that the Boss buffer does a good job of being transparent, but isn't the best for driving a long cable. So if it's a 40ft run from your pedalboard to the amp, or you're using a coily cable, you might look elsewhere. Each Jfet buffer causes about a 1% loss in signal...

    Pythagoras L78L33 Temperature

If I'm understanding right, when you turn the Mix pot to zero, and play the guitar, you hear clicks and pops? That sounds like a misbiased opamp to me. Check the voltages of the TL072.

    Inexpensive power supply

Almost everyone tries a cheap one, gets frustrated, then eventually shells out the money for the professional quality ones. My board has 14 pedals, supplied by 2 x OneSpot CS7 and I have zero noise. Expensive solution, but much better than buzz and constant frustration.

    Inexpensive power supply

I've had the Donner. IIRC, each supply goes through a choke, but they're all fed from the same input transformer, diode rectifier and voltage regulator, so it's like 'pseudo' isolation. The chokes filter noise on the positive rail, but do nothing to prevent noise caused by ground loops. The...

Super useful Spin Development Script [Linux]

Yep. It only takes one command line argument, and that's the filename of the code you're working on. For me, this is a big time saver when testing code changes, because I'll have a text editor and a terminal open, and when I want to try the code, its just a matter of hitting save in the text...

Super useful Spin Development Script [Linux]

After about a year of focusing on other things, I got back to messing around with the FV1. I've been using this Bash script I created to test out code tweaks and someone out there might find it useful or adapt it to their needs. Please note that this is a script for Linux, so if you're using...

Did anyone get the Spin software working on Mac?

The CH341a chip. Right now, the chips are in short supply and only available on these USB sticks with sockets. https://www.amazon.com/AiTrip-CH341A-EEPROM-Programmer-Adapter/dp/B07VNVX181/ It's as simple as plugging it into any USB port, opening up a command line, then run the ch341aeeprom...

GIMP is like building a thermo nuclear reactor in complexity

One thing that's always bothered me about GIMP is that 'locking' layers doesn't prevent you from moving them. So even when you go to move a tiny piece of text or a symbol, you often accidentally move your background.

I do all of my graphics in GIMP. It was worth the learning curve.

    Low gain fuzzes

When people ask forums to suggest a fuzz that adds texture, people usually point them to 'Velcro' fuzzes, which are super fizzy and sputtery and have a nasty decay character. That wasn't what I ever meant by a 'fuzz for a little bit of texture' and I suspect you feel the same way. After half a...

    Procrastinator swell speed mod?
