How and what to solder in a Perfboard schematic?

Perf board is great stuff, and really not hard if you think ahead just a bit. When I was 12, I used to make little transistor multivibrators with an led soldered on a board about the size of a postage stamp. I was making a fake car alarm blinking light that could fit in a cars dash. Gave 'em to...

Getting Solder out of pcb holes

Make sure the tip of your sucker doesn't have a chunk of solder blocking it up! This can happen more than you would expect. I love a good sucker, way better than a wick in a lot of instances!

Design Challenge #2.1 - The CMOS Overdrive Deluxe

Yeah, my local shop doesn't get much new stock. It was always kind of a pull-a-part type place. Years ago, it had all kinds of radio equipment, industrial machines of all kinds, bought out electronics manufacturing raw parts. It was really incredible. 1.00$ grab bags were an especially fun time...

    Design Challenge #2

Built mine! Only played with it for an hour or so, so I'll have more to say soon. First impressions are great! Definitely a great drive. I'd say more British than American sounding? Great range on all controls. Lots crunch if you want it. I used the modified components.

    Face Melter (P**** Melter) graphics

Looks good so far, watch your switch placement! On the PPCB board, the switch is in line with the bottom knobs..

Drill template doesn't match actual PCB

I have to say, I built a Bootleg recently and the drill template in the support documents worked perfectly for me. Everytime I print a template the program always defaults to 95% size, though.

    Design Challenge #2

Great build! I've got a few projects to finish ahead of this, but I can hardly wait! I was looking through some old breadboards the other day, and one had 3 4007's on it! I think it's a sign!

Parentheses - Don't have 1n box cap on hand. Possible replacements?

That 1n ceramic will be fine. MAY be a bit noisier, but I doubt it would be obvious..

Panspermia.. anyone build one of these? Sustain control issue

When I hear this complaint, the first thing I always think is " How well is your guitar set up?". Low output single coils set too low to the strings can sound very much like what you're describing. Try a different guitar with louder pickups?

Muffler Noise Gate cleans up Ungula?

Ive never used or built either circuit, but I'd bet it is from differences in input/output impedance. Fuzz circuits can be very different sounding depending on what is before and after the unit and most don't like buffers. I'm sure someone will be along who can explain much more very shortly..

    Light Plate...

I've had luck drilling a small concave area directly on top of the led lens with a 60° cutting angle drill bit, and lots of sanding with no more than 220 grit to get the entire lens milky. Pretty good at evening out the light dispersion. Just sanding the lens works pretty well, too.
