    Removing unwanted oscillation (Nobleman)

I've tried this. I did take a piece of shielded guitar cable and hook one end of shielding to input ground, then ran the wire from input to switch... It helped SLIGHTLY, but not completely. I've seen some suggest a very small value resistor from the input of the op amp signal input to the ground...

    Shielded input/output cable - recommendations/where to buy?

My plan is to use a piece of excess guitar pickup wire from one of my pickup swaps... should be the same concept, no?

    Shielded input/output cable - recommendations/where to buy?

I'm currently trying to eliminate oscilation in a Nobleman build. I upped the gain pot value, and now, past a certain level on the gain or tone knobs I get oscilation... I saw coax as a suggested fix, but wanted to confirm I was barking up the correct tree first

    Removing unwanted oscillation (Nobleman)

Hey guys... So, I recently built a Nobleman, and was surprised that I seem to like it best with the gain cranked... I went back and bumped up the gain pot value to A500k value so I had a bit more range plus and minus... Pedal sounds great, but once the tone and/or gain knob gets to a certain...

FV1 based Reverb signal /effect works but volume is very quiet (switch makes "pop" when engaged)

I actually went the mechanical way first... I took the switch apart still attached to the daughter board and replaced the guts... Works fine now...

FV1 based Reverb signal /effect works but volume is very quiet (switch makes "pop" when engaged)

Yeah... that's where I'm actually at right now... I'm obviously not going to remove the factory daughter board... not without decimating it. Best bet is for me to get a replacement daughter board from them and install a new switch that way.

FV1 based Reverb signal /effect works but volume is very quiet (switch makes "pop" when engaged)

Contacted Matthew's Effects, in the lucky event there was a warranty or anything involved and they agreed it sounded like a switch. In their early days they used the conventional run-of-the-mill blue switches available and once they got off the ground and progressed they went to higher quality...

FV1 based Reverb signal /effect works but volume is very quiet (switch makes "pop" when engaged)

I'll get one posted when I get home. Like I said, pedal worked great for years, then all if a sudden it'd wirk but have a bad volume drop u til you clicked it in and off several times then it would be fine... now no amount of cycling does the trick. My first step was going to be some deoxit in...

FV1 based Reverb signal /effect works but volume is very quiet (switch makes "pop" when engaged)

Hey guys... This has to do with a pedal I've owned for quite some time (since new)... I have a Matthew's Effects Astronomer... It's a hall-shimmer Reverb..Been on my board since new, probably 2016 or so... A couple years ago it was randomly acting up... the effect would engage but severely...

DEMO Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar - Special Overdrive (Dumbloid)

Just finishing this build myself (built and tested on my new PedalPCB audition board... At first I wasn't in love with the sound and then I realized I FORGOT TO PUT THE LED IN... I guess dummy me just assumed that it was an indicator for the Jazz/rock setting or something... I felt the pedal to...

Special Overdrive - not really loving it?

You mentioned flipping your 2n5088's... On the BC549B's I used, I kept the same orientation because the pinout documents I found showed the same as the BC548B... Had me worried for a minute I'd messed up

    Nobleman bass mod

Same here... I don't like maxing out controls or cutting them all together... I like having the "usable tones" in the center so I can go either way... because I feel like if I'm maxed out, there might be even more I like just beyond the horizon

    Nobleman bass mod

Another stupid question I just now thought of... I once built a katana clone and the LED went bad... the Pedal developed a weird hum to it... swapped the bad flickering led and it was fine afterwards... I haven't installed an led on this board yet (I save that for when I install it in the case...

    Nobleman bass mod

And I never honestly thought about the audition board, to be honest... very well could just be that. Only reason I went straight to troubleshooting mode was after searching the forums and finding another gentleman who had the same issue with the very same pedal. Regardless, I swapped out the...

    Nobleman bass mod

Narrowed down the problem to the 2.2 uf cap in C5. I reflowed the solder and it improved slightly... I can lightly push on the cap and oscillation stops for a minute... I'll play a little bit and then it slowly starts back as a "womp womp womp" sound... like a helicopter rotor just starting to...

    Nobleman bass mod

I do have it on a "audition" board instead of in a case... I didn't notice the oscillating when I had the 250k drive pot installed, BUT, I was running a hammer drill through concrete and brick all day when I first tested it... I'll give it another glance just to be sure I didn't miss anything...

    Nobleman bass mod

I saw another forum member have the same issue (also noted when the gain was turned up). It doesn't really manifest in normal playing... but if you lightly touch a string you can hear it. I didn't make any other adjustments or modifications so its strange this would occur. You mentioned before...
