    XC Phase trimpot

Just curious, I'm building this pedal currently and I'm seeing three options for trim pots on stompbox parts... What is the difference between 3362M vs P? there is also a 3382p... and which should I use for the xc phase. I've only done one build with trimmers so far and I'm not well versed in...

Glory hole build need more gain

I think my guitar might have actually been to blame on this one. Upon completing the G.H, I had just bought a used squire Tele. It had the cheap factory Squire pickups that ALWAYS seem to sound brittle and harsh... The guitar is great, but not the pickups. I just swapped them with Brad Paisley/...

DEMO Super Stevie Overdrive High Gain (Lovepedal Super Six Stevie)

On mine, I built the High Gain version but put R6 (supposed to be omitted on the High Gain version) on a toggle, which had interesting results... In one setting the pedal is quieter, more compressed, and higher gain... on the other, the volume increases and it adds quite a bit of clarity... it's...

DEMO Little Green Scream Machine (TS808)

I'm finding that more and more... When I got into pedal building, I was so mixed up as far as mylar, ceramic, film caps, etc... Then I realized that each uses a different makeup to more or less do the same thing... same as diodes, really... As long as they match the correct specs (I know that's...

DEMO Little Green Scream Machine (TS808)

Good to know. I have no experience with them, just know I've seen them in many old Boss and Ibanez pedals out there...

DEMO Little Green Scream Machine (TS808)

I actually did just that after typing that... I was trying to get a baseline on HOW different each was from one another and noticed the incorporated changes and just wrote down everything that needed changed. I noticed it says to use Tantalum on the C5&C6 220nf locations... Is this an...

DEMO Little Green Scream Machine (TS808)

Awesome man!. I currently have a LGSM pcb and a Tone Geek VS-10 pcb sitting on my work station... I've been trying to find what components I need to change to build the LGSM as a TS10 instead of an 808, since I already have a real Ibanez TS-808.... The Tone Geek has some additional toggles to...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

Just a simple toggle that can add a bit more gain if the mood arises. I'll give you a case in point. I built the "high gain" version of the "Super Stevie" (Lovepedal super 6) overdrive... I used the 1m pot and omitted R6 to make the higher gain version... I then added jumpers to an On On switch...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

BTW, I dunno if I said it, but I was really impressed with the "Super Stevie" pedal. I did the high gain version but added a toggle to incorporate the low gain resistor or bypass (high gain) with one you get a cleaner, louder, high headroom sound, and the other a nice compression with more...

    Acrylic Overdrive bias

Hey Buddy. I tried that and set all to 4.5. Pedal sounds great but it's REALLY bass, even in the standard (bass cut) mode. I find myself running tone and gain on max... Just wondering if I should try to bias it colder or hotter to remedy this bass thing and produce a bit more gain or would...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

I'd agree with all that... And I know that curve as well. I'm still learning the secrets of my vintage Fender amps (1966 Super Reverb and 1969 Bandmaster Reverb and various silverface Twins, Bandmasters, Supers, etc)... I played my Marshall JCM2000 TSL for almost 20 years gigging and recording...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

Oh, I should probably clarify what I meant. I don't think these guys are necessarily doing a bunch of that... my point was that things sound MUCH different when you just plug in and play in a room vs when you record with a high quality camera and mic setup, or mic up an amp/cab or run throughan...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

I'm kinda stuck right now, because I have built several overdrives now, and none of them seem to REALLY impress me... It seems strange that the video demos, etc seem to sound SO GOOD, and then you get the genuine thing or build it and it seems nothing like the demo... I guess they process...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

And if I did as you suggested, in theory I could swap the pot and add the different value of capacitor on a toggle as a tone-shaping option?

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

Thanks Buddy... that's kinda what I was aiming for... and we're not talking ultra gain or anything... just a nice "slightly pushed" drive sound... I never liked "distortion" pedals but many overdrive pedals are lacking... They should at least be able to achieve something like an AC/DC...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

I built one of those as well... doesn't sound as good yo me... Has this annoying high-end treble to it and the "low" switch has too much bass. I did a "more gain" option on it and it sounds much better... I still like the pedal I mentioned much better... and I don't want to build my buddy a new...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

I have a Blammo! Bluesblaster that has an additional gain boost. It has a second opamp inside and some extra diodes... might be a similar thing.

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

I've seen that suggested, but that's about it. One suggestion I saw on another forum was to cancel out two of the four diodes to turn it from soft to hard clipping, but there was no further explanation given.

Fingers, Wilhelm Scream, and Honeysuckle: A Tale of Three TS-based Overdrives

I have a buddy with a laser wood-burner/engraver and last week I took a spare painted case over to him just to see how it performed... It's not perfect but we seriously spent 10 minutes on it just screwing around with an "octavia" layout. Unfortunately he was supposed to just run an alignment...

Adding a B Breaker additional gain toggle

Hey folks. Back before I discovered PedalPCB I built my first pedal, a "Der Breaker" from Musikding... I liked it so much I built one for a friend of mine. This friend keeps up with all my builds and recently asked me to modify the "Der Breaker" I built him to add a bit more gain via toggle. I'm...
