Measuring pF caps with a multimeter

It could very well be the meter. Higher values (.001uf and up) appear to be good. The pF caps I measured are pretty consistent among themselves, so it's likely the meter that's out of whack.

Measuring pF caps with a multimeter

I'm in a bit of 'paralysis by analysis' here, in that I received several new bags of 5% tolerant pF caps, but they're registering WAY more (like 20% or higher) on my multimeter. I don't have an actual pF setting, but using the nanofarad detection. Anybody else experienced this?

Where are you guys buying your box capacitors?

Thx guys - I'll place an order this weekend.

Where are you guys buying your box capacitors?

I'd like something with lower tolerance than some of the other film caps I've been using, and I keep seeing those great-looking box caps in these builds. Where are you guys getting yours? I'm just hoping to get values that are more accurate than the MLCC, ceramic and film caps I have. Thx!

    Amp In A Box pedals

For me, it's been hit & miss. I've never had any Menatone stuff sound good through my Fender amps, and it's been hit/miss with Catalinbread's stuff, but I have gotten amazing/satisfying results with these through my Super Reverb head & 212 cab: Wampler PlexiDrive & CrankedAC Ed Guidry's BSIAB...

    3 Recent AionFX Boss Clones

Quick edit - my mistake: It's lectric-fx that is doing their take on a CE-1, not AionFX. Still, I'm interested.

    3 Recent AionFX Boss Clones

Yeah, those look pro. Slight side note: AionFX’ next project is supposed to be their take on a CE-1.

Radium Springs: Tweak values/trimpot For Tremolo Level?

Changed my mind about the direction for this board and ordered the EEPROM for the ThreeVerb, but still curious about the above changes.

Radium Springs: Tweak values/trimpot For Tremolo Level?

I read the review of the Radium Springs where a user tweaked some resistor values to adjust the tremolo level, when using those modes: "replace the resistors controlling the tremolo signal with trimpots using the handy Trimmit boards or socketing them and changing them out until you like them."...

Soldering SMD (FV-1) - wait between pins?

Thanks guys. I might give drag soldering a try on my next build. I typically do what @Stickman393 describes above: working opposite points on the chip, slowly to avoid overheating.

Soldering SMD (FV-1) - wait between pins?

I typically never solder ICs (and rarely solder transistors), so I'm a little skittish/overly-cautious with my first FV-1. Pretty much the only question I have is: how long should I wait in between soldering each leg? EDIT: I've already started soldering this one, but it's slow going as I'm...

Recommend a DIY Reverb that DOESN'T sound like an analog delay

    Is there a project/board for a Hooke clone/workalike??

Recommend a DIY Reverb that DOESN'T sound like an analog delay

I ordered from Amplified Parts. I just wanted a couple, since this is my 1st time with FV-1s.

Recommend a DIY Reverb that DOESN'T sound like an analog delay

Yep, that's why I bought 2 FV-1s! I wanted something simple for the first one (Radium), and will go from there. I have a Strymon BigSky, but need something simple/classic for a compact board to go with my 5E3.

Recommend a DIY Reverb that DOESN'T sound like an analog delay

Thanks - nope, didn't know it before, but that's kinda what I was thinking, based on there being more info about programming on the EEPROM chips (and that the ones with the PCB have pre-loaded configs) and no mention of coding on the FV-1 itself. This should be fun!

Recommend a DIY Reverb that DOESN'T sound like an analog delay

Got a couple of FV-1s ordered. Will probably start with the Radium Springs. Thx!

Recommend a DIY Reverb that DOESN'T sound like an analog delay

Yeah, guess it's the Belton Brick I'm not so keen on. I'll look into the FV-1, but that may lead to more questions; I have ZERO experience with programming ICs, but that sounds VERY interesting/promising.

You know, that 'bup-bup-bup-bup bup bup.....' echo. Any DIY reverbs that have a natural(ish) decay? Wampler Faux Reverb? Would like something for a small board when I take my Tweed Deluxe over to a cousin's place.

    Acetylene

Thanks - I'm basically trying to avoid that BM/cocked-wah midrange when I hit the boost. I just want a gain boost.

    Acetylene

I'll get that a shot. Do we know what that booster is based on?
