Will this work as a stand alone buffer?

That is a voltage buffer (look for emitter follower or common collector) and it should work, yes

AMT Legend R2 pedal or schematic?

I've never been able to find the schematic for the O2. If it's been traced, I don't think it's been shared. Not sure how willing AMT would be to provide service manuals with factory schematics, but I've seen some online before

Cool, thanks! I'll try to find some good deals on germanium transistors and stock on some low-hfe Si

    DESIGN ThunderZone

@Chuck D. Bones, this may be a little off-topic, so feel free to delete this post: have you tried piggybacking transistors (like Q2 and Q3 in here, for example) in place of the germanium transistors in your hybrid germanium-fet designs? I'm having trouble sourcing germanium transistors and those...

    Yet another Low Tide modulator

I love the blue caps to match the resistors! Where did you source them?

    Genuine spring reverb build recommendations?

I have built a clone of the Hooke as well, that I really enjoy! One of the things I like about it is it runs on 9V, so no need for charge pumps (I try to avoid them as much as I can). Mine was built on a single sided pcb, with no switching circuit on board

NSFW What's up with the buffers in cornish designs?

It was never my intention to have this thread become what it became when I originally posted it, so I really appreciate you revisiting it with a technical discussion, and what I think is a super reasonable insight

Nice job! I Love everything about this

This Week on the Breadboard: Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive (with some mods, of course)

I've used a 2sk246-Y for Q1. If I recall correctly, it had Vp of around 1.5V and Idss ~ 3mA. As Chuck has pointed, I've played with R4, R2 and C3 in LTSpice to get similar biasing and gain. There's a small gain difference, but it was close enough for me to avoid ordering new parts. Pedal sounds...

How do companies print white on dark enclosures?

If you're an artistic person or if you don't mind the rougher look, you can do some nice linocut prints, too.

    JFET Shootout

I checked one of mine, the difference is subtle but it's a little different from yours (letters and numbers cover a larger area). And I can't see that residue

    JFET Shootout

Mine look exactly like the left one, and they have all been in-spec for a 2n3819, which is not a super hard task, considering the parameter spread

    JFET Shootout

Could you identify the fake 2n3819? Are they jfets, at least?

This Week on the Breadboard: Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive (with some mods, of course)

Robert's layouts are as good as they get, but it's a lot of fun seeing how different people (all very capable) approach board designing

This Week on the Breadboard: Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive (with some mods, of course)

Brett's build report was so good that I had to build (build report here) this one. It doesn't look as nearly as profesional as Brett's and Cooder's but I'm happy with how it turned out and it sounds amazing. I had no low gain Si transistors, so I'll include some in my next parts order and swap...

Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive - Chuck's Boneyard Version

I just finished Chuck's version (thread here) of the Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive and it sounds absolutely killer. Not a single bad sound in it! Absolutely impressive and a must build for everyone, in my opinion. It transitions beautifully from clean to dirty, and all controls are very usable...

    Collateral FX Unchained

In the end, which jfets did you choose? That's gotta be my favorite sounding BSIAB II variant ever! It looks amazing, too

This Week on the Breadboard: Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive (with some mods, of course)

Just etched this one to build it this weekend EDIT: I just verified the board: layout is good and the pedal sounds absolutely amazing. This is getting boxed as soon as possible In case anyone wants to etch their own board and @Chuck D. Bones says it's alright, I'll be happy to share it.

My bad, I just assumed it was the drain resistor.

This Week on the Breadboard: Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive (with some mods, of course)

Thanks! I'll try to breadboard with what I have and see if I get reasonable drain voltages. How high can I go with the drain resistor before it begins to impact tone too much? (if I remember correctly, the drain resistor is part of a filter somewhere)
