    Tube Preamp PCB (draft)

As my college football team was getting its teeth kicked in, I decided to work on this layout. Here's revision 3. I think, think there's at least 2mm between traces/holes. I used pads for the tone stack (I know, that part isn't pretty). I also moved the 275v to the top area of the board (with...

    Tube Preamp PCB (draft)

Self reply. Man, I always screw up where ground loops would/would not be. I’ll give it a shot and have you tear it apart. :)

    Tube Preamp PCB (draft)

I shouldn’t probably post when I’m a bit tired: I forget context. And yes, you’re right: the airwires are Ground connections. 1. I calculated 1.25 somehow, but I’ll probably move it to .75-.85, just to give myself a bit of leeway. 2. Good thoughts on the signal being smaller width. 3. The...

    Tube Preamp PCB (draft)

So, I gave it another shot, this time in landscape. Little wider and narrower. Guess I went Hiwatt style. :) I did move some of the potentiometers from the bottom up a couple millimeters (my grid is in 1mm squares). Everything should have 1.5-2mm clearance, all HV is on 1.25mm traces, and I...

Byzantium Flanger - How To Correctly Attach The Stomp Switch (A Build Guide Would Have Helped Immensely)

That purple is very nice. Is it the LMS powder drop?

Get turbo weird https://aionfx.com/project/xenotron-modulation-machine/ Trem + Flanger + Effects loop = what's not to love? https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/leprechaun/ because 🤷‍♂️ (Speaking of, I need to get mine boxed up)

    Tube Preamp PCB (draft)

Cool. I went ground pour on the bottom side trying to keep the big VDC on the top. No way I wanted to pour copper with those big traces. And you’re right, there are some big voltages there on the blue (bottom side). I’ll look at that - don’t know what I was thinking. The 1/16 (whatever that...

    Tube Preamp PCB (draft)

Good evening - I like making perfboard layout of preamps, but I'm kind of nervous of the longevity of some of them (one is working, but the ground and +250VDC are literally millimeters apart!) . So, I've taken a shot at putting together a 125B sized (but no tubes!) layout for 2 tubes plus a...

SOLVED Relay Bypass (latching) + Informant: Effect always-on, LED switches on/off

Honest question: am I seeing things, or is there no wire connected to the IN of the relay board? I can’t tell and maybe the coffee hasn’t kicked in. Maybe that’s it?

Professor Tweed preamp cannot bias one of the JFETs

Hmmm. If you move the Q2 fet, does the biasing problem move with it? I.e if you swap Q2 and Q3, does Q3 not bias? If the swap lets Q3 bias correctly, then there’s a snag somewhere with the trimpot area. Again, just rolling some ideas. Maybe it will help.

Professor Tweed preamp cannot bias one of the JFETs

My guess is that you might have missed a cut on the strip board or missed a connection to q2. If you have a meter that can do continuity testing (beep), check to see if there is a connection from the leg of the trimpot that isn’t connected to V+ (+9V) to the drain of Q2. No connection would mean...

VFE TrueSoft V3.2 Bypass Board guide

Downloaded the master VFE file. Guess I going to need the charge pump. I think the document from above will help with this board. Now the Mobius Strip with the weirder parts? YEEHAW!

VFE TrueSoft V3.2 Bypass Board guide

I'll try the big download and see what I find. I think the guide you posted will help, but my board looks really different than others. I'll get a picture as soon as I can. Mobius Strip matches the build BOM/Board view so far. Thanks everyone for looking. I was wondering if I truly was a crazy...

VFE TrueSoft V3.2 Bypass Board guide

So, I've scoured the internet and have found the documents from the VFE group buy, but can't seem to find a build guide or set of guidance for the board I have. Mine is a through-hole version of 3.2, and the parts match the BOM. But, I'm not 100% sure: 1) what is necessary to populate (I don't...

    FV-1 Developer & Spin / Arachnid Questions

Well that just stinks on ice. Was it easy to install? Yep, as long as you have Java, you’ll usually be okay (what Robert says below). And the key word Robert says is “usually”

    FV-1 Developer & Spin / Arachnid Questions

Have I used it? Yes. I had some snags getting reliable testing audio set up, but that’s on me Is it hard to install? I think it’s easier now. I had to do a lot of work years back. Did I maximize its use and make great things? Nope, but was it fun? Yep. Can it be frustrating? Yup. But there’s...
