Jam Pedals Rattler V2 Design Speculation

Following. I've never had a rat and it seems like a must have for a complete pedal arsenal

    sushi box grand slampegg

I upped the hpf cap on my nobelium build for upright and its now set at around 50hz. It's pretty perfect for my upright to leave on all the time. I don't think think a steeper filter slope is al that necessary tbh. Steep analog filters do weird stuff to the phase response and create a resonance...

Awesome! I've had this one in the list for a while

Building a pre-amplifier with 3 band equalizer for bass.

There are some good calculators for gyrator EQs online. This style of eq is used in the ppcb "6 band EQ" project. The easiest thing would be to copy this circuit, only use three bands, and change the values based on your calculator. The eq in the first picture is a passive EQ like you would...

All Time Most Bestest Favoritest Chorus You Have Owned , Played or Heard?

I use a DC-2 most often on my HX stomp. Every setting just sounds good and I don't have to mess with anything

4 band onboard preamp development - First Project

Since my last post I have learned how to design boards in kicad, somewhat learned how to hot air solder, and learned more about SMD components in general I almost have a boost/drive pedal mocked up and will hopefully be ordering boards soon. I haven't heard from the guy who wanted this...

    Any harmonizer examples?

I just found out about these boards and ill defiantly be building one as a dedicated reverb pedal. I'm kicking around the idea of building a pedalboard just for my fretless bass. I'd love to have a harmonizer pedal to get this type of sound at 4:15 I saw a pitch shifter in one of the git...

TRANSFORMERS, all PPCB projects, in disguise... (& hall-of-infamous inductors)

Thats a cool thread that I haven't seen before. Ill add it to the list. The isolated DI using a cheap transformer is also a cool idea

4 band onboard preamp development - First Project

Working on v1.1 I've implemented most of passinwinds recommendations and adjusted the frequency bands a little bit to get closer to what I want. I flattened out the eq "preshape" to be slightly flatter and the output is now closer to unity. I kept the bass and treble section the same format as...

4 band onboard preamp development - First Project

Thank you so much @Passinwind ! I've spent many hours reading your preamp thread. Its definitely inspired me to try designing stuff myself. I'm nearly through an Electrical Engineering degree. I've learned a lot of math and theory in the past couple years, but now I need to learn some more...

4 band onboard preamp development - First Project

I'll be using a quad op amp , the op7s are just the generic op amp model in ltspice

4 band onboard preamp development - First Project

A friend of mine has asked for a 4 band preamp for his bass. I've built a good number of pedals, but really haven't designed much myself. I'm taking on the project as a learning experience and will be documenting my progress here, mostly as just a log for myself but also to get feedback from the...

    Vampire Slayer DIY PCB?

Just finished up. I added an 11meg/5.5meg input impedance switch. The 11meg is too bright on upright bass, I prefer the 5.5

    Vampire Slayer DIY PCB?

Would it be noisy to have the input resistor on a switch? I've read some people prefer 5.6 meg and some people prefer 10 meg for piezos. I'd like to try both out

    Vampire Slayer DIY PCB?

Heads up I think there may be some minor mistakes in the BOM. Double check the schematic if you're ordering individual resistors. It shouldn't be a problem for most people since most people order resistors in packs of ten or more

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I'm finally making some progress. These Vishay resistors are significantly larger than typical resistors. It makes for a tight squeeze in some spots Im still waiting for an order from taydas and I may need to place another mouser order to get some parts I missed but I'm exited to get this done

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I'm going to stick in a 10uF in for C8 and see what happens. It was the next biggest value that Tayda had wima caps for. I know I want the HPF to be lower (based on my experience with the HX stomp emulation) but I don't have a specific target frequency in mind. Ill try to take measurements of...

    Benson preamp "fizz"

Whenever I do stripboard builds I always build two. The second copy has the same problem so I can rule out bad components/bad solder joints. I wired up the second one using a bunch of alligator clips just to check. Obviously it's going to be worse and noisier than the actually wired up copy...
