    BF-2 Blackhat Edition (Boss BF-2)

It’s been a fun ride but, I think it’s time to hang up the iron for a bit. I’m out of ideas and honestly, tired of building. What better way to go out than a build of my favorite effect. The Boss BF-2. I’ve already talked at great length about my love and history with this effect so, I’ll...

SOLVED Aion Amethyst (Boss DM-2) - Distorted Repeats

You’re welcome and I appreciate the compliments. In regards to what you’ve described with the repeats, I think I know what you’re talking about. I myself describe it as white noise and I hate to say this again but, that’s the nature of the beast with analog delays. I’m not saying there isn’t...

SOLVED Aion Amethyst (Boss DM-2) - Distorted Repeats

When you say “distorted”, it’s hard to really understand what you mean because your definition of distortion might be different from mine. I say that because, the dm-2 is known for having “dirtier” repeats than other analog delays from that time period. It’s part of that circuits charm and...

    Noire DM-2B (Boss DM-2W)

As @Guardians of the analog and I typically do, we were having a lengthy discussion about all things BBD one evening. During that talk, Chris brought up the idea of a DIY, dual 3205 DM-2. The funny thing was, I had already been kicking around that idea in my head. When he mentioned that I...

    Blackhat Boojum Effects Ibanhad FL9

Hell yes! Amazing build as always and it’s awesome to see something I worked on out in the wild.

Has anyone EVER seen a pcb for a “Deluxe Electric Mistress” Pic inside

As already mentioned, the Old Chap is what you’re looking for. The 24 volt deluxe didn’t actually operate at 24 volts. It’s regulated down to 15v. The 90’s reissues were regulated down even further to just 12v. The old chap… 18v in, regulated down to 15v.

Baron of Arizona flanger #3 (NTE1641 edition) Revisited

I recently revisited this build, and played around with different voltage regulators. Here are the results in case anyone might be interested. Pedal at 12v with a 9v regulator: Brian mentions in the build docs that this configuration can be used but, hasn't been tested. I've now tested it...

DEMO Good Enough Flanger (Ibanez FL9) updated

Thanks! To answer your question… no, it’s not really possible. You would have to swap out a lot more than a “few” components. While the circuit topology is very similar between the two, the values of components used is not.

Lucky Cuss Chorus (Bio77 999 chorus)

Huge thanks and I’m glad you think I did it justice! I can’t wait to see that FL9 build report. The more I play around with this chorus, the more I’m loving it and yeah… I’m pretty sure this is my favorite chorus now. 100% 🤘 Many thanks Rob! Absolutely! It sounds excellent after the dm-3...

Lucky Cuss Chorus (Bio77 999 chorus)

When I started this hobby a few years ago, there were certain pedal builders whose work really stood out to me. Among those individuals is @Bio77 . The quality of work, the enclosure aesthetics, and the circuits themselves, were things I took notice of and I aspired to be somewhat on John’s...

Hero of Arizona (Boss HF-2) Flanger

No modifications are actually required to the pcb. Just put an MN3204 (if you can get ahold of one) in place of the 3207 and voila… You have an HF-2 flanger. That’s seriously all that is needed. To get a little more technical, there are only 3 differences between the 2 circuits when looking...

DEMO Good Enough Flanger (Ibanez FL9) updated

Here’s a proper Good Enough flanger. I ran out of 22k metal film resistors and had to substitute carbon film, but other than that, this is what it’s supposed to look like. https://vimeo.com/931603835?share=copy

    Digital Delay Recommendations?

If you can find a one at a good price, the Providence Chrono Delay is one of the best, straight up, digital delays ever made. Tap tempo, 2 programmable presets, and metronome like accuracy. It’s not real fancy, and it doesn’t have stuff like modulation, just a straight up, somewhat...
