Guvernator - No juice to clipping diodes

I just need to take a break from this one. I have a couple other kits to assemble. I'll get back to it.

Guvernator - No juice to clipping diodes

I hooked up a new switch and still measuring voltages on both LED contacts. However it is passing signal and performing distortion. I dunno. It's possessed. I have other projects waiting in the wings so this is going to get put aside for a future debug.

Guvernator - No juice to clipping diodes

I de-soldered all the components and repopulated the board with all new components, measuring each one to ensure correct values. Hooked up everything (switch, pots, jacks). Power light comes on but nothing else happens. It's 90 degrees in here, my AC is broken and I have lost all patience and...

Guvernator - No juice to clipping diodes

Pin 4 - Pin 8 = -67.04 mV The caps are MLCC I hooked the pots back up, reading 9.45V on A and K of D2 and D3. No signal passes when circuit is engaged.

I'll post more pics in the AM. Sun is setting and time to wind down.

Guvernator - No juice to clipping diodes

The LED indicator lights ups just fine, but after that everything seems to go south. Here are the vital signs - TLT72 Leg 1 = 15 mV ~. Ranges from 12mV to 16mV TLT72 Leg 7 = 1 mV D2 = Anode 3.3 mV D3 = K 3 mV D1 Input = 9.45 mV D1 output = 85.4 mV No sound when circuit is engaged. Strange...

    Uni-vibe

Measure your LDR's to get a set that are equally matched. The tolerances on these are kind of all over the place.

    Power Supply issue

This issue is occurring on channel 2 and the bad cap was on channel 6.

    Power Supply issue

I recapped my Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 as one of the caps was bad. Whole I was at it, I replaced all the power regulators too (LM317LZ) On one channel the voltage drops from 9.2~ to anywhere from 3.5v to 4.5v. Could this be the bridge rectifier going tits up?

Long 6/32 screw broke off in powder-coated enclosure hole, stuck

I've noticed on the Tayda powder coated enclosures the screw holes can be a bit tight. Didn't realize the screws were soft enough to snap off. I'll chase the threads before inserting a fastener from now on.

Guvenator - More Cowbell! No, I mean more Bass

I assembled a Guvenator recently and over all I am very happy with it. I'm building another one and rather than PCB mounted pots I'm going to fly leads to the solder lugs. The reason I'm doing this with the pots is because I want the controls laid out like you would find on a Marshall amp...

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

Ok, flipped back around and it does sound much better. Thank you for the info,

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

I saw another Daydream build where the regulator was in opposite of what I did. I went by the image screen printed on the PCB. I'll flip it back to how I had it originally. I did reflow all the joints so maybe that was the original issue. I'll post back the results.

Is it worth trying to fix a power supply?

Yes, it has four legs. Thank you for researching this. so far after replacing all the caps and power regulators it appears to be cured of its hum.

Is it worth trying to fix a power supply?

My Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 started humming. Popped the cover off and found one of the 1000uF caps bulging. Took it out and the dielectric was leaking out the bottom. So I replaced all the electrolytic caps. Him was greatly reduced but not zero. Replaced all electrical with low ESR caps...

    Guvenator

The board assembly was straightforward, nothing of note. However the next build I will use solder lugged pots and fly the leads for the tone controls. My preference is to have the Bass, Mid and Treble arranged left to right as they are in a typical Marshall. I also am toying with a different...
